@Riot Suggestions for Teamfight Tactics

I've been playing this game for a while now and I love it. There are some things I feel are lacking however so I thought I'd just write down all the suggestions I came up with, hoping that a dev will see them and take them into account when patching the gamemode.

  • Implement post-game chat. It would be fun to be able to discuss the game afterwards, and have a fun time with the new friends you got. This is obviously not a high priority suggestion, just something I had in mind.

  • ~~ During the carousel round, let the top players pick first. This might be an unpopular opinion, but right now, losing on purpose if a viable tactic, and more rewarding in many situations. In late-game, it is in some situations more rewarding to intentionally lose as the top player, in order to get first pick on the carousel round.~~

  • Have a set amount of items you can get in the first 3 minion waves, with a low chance of getting a bonus one. This would keep RNG to a certain degree, making the game more interesting, but also secure a set amount of items for everybody, so that there isn't somebody with 6 items and one with 0.

  • If a player is building a certain origin, higher the chance of units of that origin appearing in the shop at least once for the first shop after a round (refreshing the shop would be an exception to this rule). This would keep the RNG to a certain level, but also balancing things out and making the game slightly faster.

  • Implement a clear pattern for what opponent you will have to fight. This would add strategy to the game and make it more interesting. You would have to do research on your enemy team comp, predict how they will position their characters, and come up with a counter-strategy.

  • When spectating a friend and they teleport into a fight, the camera is then stuck in that arena even after the fight, and you need to "re-spectate" in order to spectate your friend again. I don't know if this is a bug or something that's meant to be but my suggestion is that you keep the camera stuck at where your friends character is.

Tell me what you think about my suggestions/ideas and feel free to add any of your own in the comments. I will edit this post as I come up with new suggestions that I feel would be viable.

Edit: Removed Carousel round suggestion as it would remove any chance of comebacking and increase snowballing, making everything about early game which would not really work out with certain origins

I agree on everything with two exceptions:

  • Carousel Rounds: BIG NO! Right now the game has a very well made balance of comeback and snowball - changing the carousel the way you ask would instantly delete ANY way of comeback.

  • Matchmaking: Yes and No here. I definitely agree on giving the rounds a comprehendable logic. Loosing 50HP in two rounds against the same dude win streeaking opponent is ridiculous! However I dont think showing idividual opponents in advance is a good idea. There are a couple of comps that win/loose depeding on the side they're placed in. Exactly knowing your opponent would result into a whoever flinches first looses. Resulting in chaotic error heavy unti placements during the last seconds.

One thing I miss on the list is Fighting Ghosts.

I can't do anyhting but despise the current form of fighting ghosts whenever there is an odd number of players. You gain NOTHING from winning - You loose EVERYTHING on loosing.

Especially in endgame there is nothing more anticlimactic than winning OR loosing because of ghost fights!

I remember more than one endgame scenario where I had a scary and an easy opponent to face. I prepared fo the scary one only to realize two fights against the easy one later the scary one got eliminated and I won. So did my strategy work? Did the easier one beat him? I HAVE NO CLUE!

Yes Ghosts shorten games by large marging but honestly I think the game would be much more enjoyable without them. Or with a different system once half of the player got eliminated.

I would like to see more champs added per patch. Only giving us Twisted Fate on patch 9.14, i feel, is a major letdown. I would have like to see more Robots added since Blitzcrank is the only one. I think instead of only giving us Twisted Fate, they should have given us more Robots and/or Exiles to the roster. If they do plan on releasing more champs, it should be no more than 5 champs per patch and maybe throw in a new origin to the lineup as well. I personally would have loved to see a Teemo, Vi, Caitlyn, Master Yi, etc...to the roster.

I really like a lot of what you have here.

RESPONSES:

I have really wanted post game discussions as well. Have a reporting option though for the people who are numbnuts.

The min/max drops needs to happen, it appears from PBE they are adding in min drops but I would like to see a max drops as well.

I actually don't think they should increase chances just for what you want. I think there is something in having to be adaptable and build from what you get. Otherwise every game will just be full comps and only one or two comps and not much variety in what you see.

I agree with the other dude that you should not be able to see whos next, BUT they need to make it so that you don't get the same person twice in a row unless you are the last two. I had one game where we had 3 people left, and I fought 4 ghost rounds in a row vs one person as the other two bled each other out, then I finally played the ultimate winner. That should have been mixed up so that we all got to fight each other. I have also had it where there were 6 teams left and either I pummeled the same dude into oblivion 3 rounds in a row or had it happen to me, and that isn't fun either way.

I don't like the carousel idea for the same reasons but you already crossed that out.

There might be a better way, but if it means longer games, then please no removing ghosts. I already feel the matches last too long sometimes.

I like the idea of slowly adding champs, as it gives time to adjust and balance better, and it will keep this game replayable for a long time since it will take a long time to add in all the champs.

MY OWN IDEAS

I would like to see instead the carousel round be you seeing all the champs and putting them in preference order and then keep the same priorities and you get what you get. This could speed up the round and stop some of the dumb crap people are getting frustrated over with blocking and such.

This I read elsewhere, but I would love to see champs only be able to hold 2 full items. This would stop some of the OP combos and 1 champ crushing a whole team comp just cause they or their items are OP.
