Hello there! I used to main Swain for Seasons 1 and 2, and he's been one of my favorite champions. I can try to tell you what I know about Swain, along with how you lane, how you build, and so forth. I'm busy with college right this moment, but I may be able to answer some things here :P

thanks man :), im mainly wondering when i should start roaming because i almost always win my lanes. Also what do you do when you face a tank like mundo who has large sustain later in the game and has a decent poke. Finally in team fights i seem to die pretty often most of the times being the first one dead yet not dealing too much damage.(yes i know about the hourglass)

Buildwise, if you go Rod of Ages and get a Spirit Visage along with your hourglass, you usually shouldn't be dying too easily. Swain can still do nasty damage even if you don't go full damage, but its necessary to be tanky with him so you don't get blown up since his range isn't the best. For tankier people, a Liandrys Torment is pretty decent on Swain if your enemies continue to build HP like crazy. For roaming purposes, remember that Swain isn't very strong without his ultimate, and you should be cautious with your snare pre-6. Roaming depends on if your mid or top lane, since top is harder to roam from, but Mid is easier. Usually you'll only roam if your team actually needs help, otherwise if you win your lane, you should be able to 1v2 very easily.

so my build should go rod, visage, hourglass, liandrys, ryelias, then boot? and as for the boots should i go for the normal sorcerer boots with homeguard? And also what are the first sub-items i rush?

Rod is a must buy, but whether you want to build hourglass first or visage first is completely situational. Usually you'll try to go for the catalyst first so you can get the sustain every time you level. For boots, sorcerers is fine for going aggressive, tho if you think you're the only tanky person on the team you can opt for more tanky options. This build is fine, but anything can change depending on the situation of the game. Generally Rod of ages first item is the only thing that shouldn't change, but whether you get an hourglass second depends on if you're teamfighting really early on in the game, and if you're facing someone with magic or physical damage in lane. Oh, and initial items bought can either be a dorans ring or Crystalline flask, the flasks sustain is really nice early on, but Dorans ring would be more aggressive.

last question what should i do in team fights? things such as initiating, when to retreat, and etc...... (i know about focusing adc and fed enenimes)

The one thing to remember is that Swain isn't really a pure mage, hes more of an AP Mage Bruiser, and so your job is basically like a bruiser, you soak up some damage and usually try going for their Carries, and if all of their focus is on you and your in the middle of their team, you'll Zhonyas with your ultimate up so continue doing as much damage to as many people as possible. Usually the enemy ADC and/or enemy mid laner are too squishy to take your full combo, so thats usually your focus in teamfights. Swain isn't really the best at Peeling, though if you land your snare on the entire enemy team, that would be amazing. You usually only retreat if your whole team is retreating. Swain usually isn't the one to initiate, but you can get a catch if you land your snare on a squishy target. Swain's more of a follow up to an initiate.
