New Player Almost 30 - LF team to do rank

JBox88··1 votes·619 views

I'm just about to hit 26, and hoping to start doing rank games or at least practicing with a few folks for them right when I hit 30. I still dont know all of the champions or their abilities, but feel as though I'm improving with every game I play that has someone more experienced in it.

I'm 27 years of age, work in IT/Support, and mainly leverage teamspeak for communication in game. I know most groups will want someone that has already played through rank, but I'm hoping to learn and at least hit silver this season.

Also, even if you're not willing to do rank games with me, but you're silver and above, willing to help me learn in normal games, I would appreciate it.

I wont be able to do ranked with you, being ranked plat, but if you tell me the 2 positions(in league...) you prefer i could try to help you out, by spectating or playing with you w/e.

Oh and it's totally up to you but i wouldn't jump into ranked right away.

Make sure you at least got a good understanding of let's say...3 to 5 champions in your 2 best spots (be it mid, adc, jungle, top or support),making that 6 to 10 champs total.

That's not much but that's gonna help you.Trust me, i've waited til i had about 1000 normal wins or more (i wasn't interested in ranked hahaha) and it paid off.I've never been below gold since i started playing ranked seriously (meaning more than 5 games per season).

I'm not saying to wait so long, but 6 to 10 champs seems like a legit goal [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Thats a very good point; I've thus far been focusing on Mid and Top. I'm learning Annie, Fizz & Zed for mid thus far. Top, I've been learning Malphite, Poppy, & Darius, thinking about trying out Mordekaiser to counter Darius, but I've heard he can be just as difficult as Zed. Poppy I'm still uncertain of as I've only played a couple games with her and shes a bit boring to me, though I admit I was likely playing her incorrectly. I'm also considering trying Yasou for mid. I've also tried to play each role to some degree so I have a decent understanding of them. I have at least one champ for each role because of this, except for ADC which I've simply never really gotten into, thus I've had to use free champs when I tried. I own Yi for JG, Janna and Zillean for Support.

I've always been somewhat competitive, which is why I was considering rank games so early. I have a few friends that also just got into league not much earlier compared to myself and already play rank games, but again I must admit they're fairly bad (even I can tell that, and they're in Bronze). I feel as though I've managed to learn the basics, enjoy the game and want to simply get better, but I'll certainly hold off on rank games until I have a fair amount of champions I know how to play well. So in short, I agree, your advice makes sense and thank you for pointing that out.

I've added all, or I'm in the process of adding everyone who has posted thus far offering to help. Again I'm not hoping to get carried by any means, but A) solo queuing can be rough/lonely, B) I'm hoping to get pointers.

Thanks again! I definitely didn't expect to get this many responses so quickly.

why would you start ranked right after hitting level 30?? Go get around 700+ normal wins of experience before you land bronze and possibly ruin someone's promo.

You need to know what all the champions are capable of before going ranked.

well many people start ranked for a reason i didnt want to go into ranked personally i play league just to play with friends.....not many now but mostly people either just want to rush to get that high elo or know where they stand right now skill wise for me its just friends wanting to play ranked

I definitely understand what you're trying to say. I'm not sure I'll be willing to wait 700+ games, but certainly at least a few hundred. Thanks for pointing this out.

I can help you learn the micro/macro of the game. The basics. The advanced when needed. I can spectate games and do whatever to help. I've just gotten bored from actually playing, but I'm very knowledgeable of the game. I can use any type of voice comm.

To be honest even a few hundreds can feel long.Like i said, when you feel ready, you should go for it.As long as you have at least basic knowledge on every champ (to be able to play against them) and feels confident on your own champs.

As far as ranked goes, i would say annie and fizz seems good for mid (although fizz is more played top lately but i certainly prefer to play ap fizz, this one is really up to the person playing it).Zed might be a bit harder because he is banned really really often so you might want to find something else.

For top lane , i'm not playing there very often (i hate that place hahaha) but i would say poppy, darius and malphite are good.I personally prefer poppy since you can literally change a game with her ult and w.

Anyway, just remember, kills are great and all, but 1 kill is like 15-20cs.Sometime, the best way to win isn't to get kills over your opponent, but to deny him cs and make him back while you get your own cs up.
