You don't get stuck in bronze if you're decent at the game. There's videos of diamond players roflstomping their way from Gutter Trash V elo all the way up. As they got closer to their real elo the progress slowed down, but down in bronze it was like watching a human player take on beginning AI. Not only would they get fed, but they directed the team in what to do (objectives and such) for quick and decisive wins.
When last I played rank, I carried myself out of bronze playing support (you want to talk about a challenge). If you really are decent, you will move up. If you're close to where you belong, your progress will be slow to non-existent.
