How do you get on a NA Academy team?
Do they find you in game or like how did most of the players get recruited for the spring 2018 season?

Since the challenger spots are limited and few, pros will often play with other high elo amateur players and see how they perform on different champions and situations. Then if a certain team is interested in a player they usually make tryouts, where he plays with the main roster or the academy one to see how he fits in a competitive environment. Scouting Grounds helps amateur players getting noticed by the LCS teams too.
You need to be at least diamond 2 to be able to noticed by academy teams
