New LOW Elo NA Tournament - Read on how to enter!
Hello everyone! I come today with news of a brand new tournament for lower elo teams. I've decided to start up this tournament in hope that it can be a season type thing that runs off of a monthly basis so that there is constantly a tournament for lower elo teams to play in. That's why I'm coming on here to see if there would be any interest in these lower elo teams wanting to compete at a competitive level for prize money (potentially in the future based on how many people join). I've thought of a few ways for this to work and I'll explain them now. The first way for these tournaments to work is if we have a large enough group of teams (probably 10 or over) then we could do a round robin style tournament where say we have 16 teams sign up we break up into 4 groups of 4 and the top 2 teams from each group move on to a bracket stage where each match would be Bo3, aside from the finals which would be Bo5. If this all works and just as many people want to join the second time around then I've though that could do the round robin style again where the winners from the last time have immunity into the bracket stage (that would depend on if people wanted to do it like that or would rather just everyone go back into the bracket stage). I've also thought of a way that instead of doing another round robin after the first season we could do it similar to the LCS where the bottom tier teams from the previous bracket stage would have to face off against people who want to try to get into the "season 2" through a double elimination bracket. I.E. Kind of like relegation and challenger series in LCS. That way teams who didn't make it into the bracket stage from the first season who try again only a few weeks later, and keep trying and competing as long as people are interested. The other format that we could run this tournament on is with a fewer amount of teams interested where we just use a bracket stage and after the first tournament the higher placed teams would get a first round bye in the next tournament. This way of running it is more simple and would go by quicker but also has less competition. Hopefully there are many teams interested but even if we only get 4 we can still have the tournament and then hopefully we can grow over time. So now that we got all of the basics out of the way its time to cover rules and how to enter.
First things first have your team leader simply add me on league or skype (preferably skype for more reliable constant communication) to enter into the tournament. Although it probably won't start up immediately, the quicker you sign up to play the quicker i can get the format set up and start the fun and the glory. My skype name is JacobRodgers555777 and my IGN is: boo89100.
Now as far as the rules go it'll be more of a trial and error test after the first tournament but here's what I have:
- Your team has to be reliable in playing their matches, we won't wait around for weeks for you to play, odds are once the participants of the match are set you'll have a few days to play it and whichever team doesn't show up will forfeit that match. I'll have to be very strict on this to keep it running smooth so please if you're planning on entering and you know that your team is spotty on being on at the same time have at least a sub or two to fill in if need be.
- Along with the first rule since this tournament is a north American tournament, try to be able to play your matches at regular times, i.e. even if your team gets on everyday if you get on at 4 am don't be surprised if you end up disqualified for not showing up. The matches can be played at any time but if your team can not be on at regular hours of the day while the other can then you'll have to forfeit.
- This is a LOW elo tournament so try to refrain from using any people above gold elo on your team. Those this rule is not set in stone (i.e. technically you can use someone who was plat or something last season on your team)i will manage it by watching how hard it carries. If you obliterate your enemies with your friend who was diamond last season I'll reserve the right to tell you either he can't play and you'll need a lower elo sub. It wouldn't be fair for the lower elo people actually wanting to compete with their skill level, so use common sense because if you use somebody way above the elo of this tournament you'll probably have to redo the match with correct level players.
- Last one. Your team name can be whatever your hearts desire, but whatever it is keep it clean. I don't want derogatory or explicit team names submitted so just use your brain and come up with something not offensive.
I hope there are a few teams who would be interested in signing up for this tournament as I'd love to make it a long lasting event. If you're interested or want to get a team together just remember to message me on skype! Thanks for reading and best of luck in the tournament!
