Beerstein2 votesComing from the depths (s1) and having people from bronze to diamond to duo with I find I learn the most by duoing with people at my MMR since we may be the same rank but we're there for different reasons.
When you find an open minded player at the same MMR you can see blatantly obvious holes in their play that make them look stupid and they can do the same to you, so if you can do that while being open minded that even though they look like an idiot to you they make up for it somewhere else where you're lacking. It's a two way street so as long as you're open to taking advice from someone that you feel looks like an idiot at times you'll find ways to improve.
The biggest thing I see holding people back is that they constantly look at their own team like idiots that aren't as good as them without realizing they have holes in their play that are just as obvious yet they themselves are blind to it. It's entirely likely you dropped when duoing simply because you clashed and got frustrated at eachothers play rather than being open to eachothers suggestions. Finding a good duo isn't easy.
As far as the "girl" thing yes you'll be getting more attention but it's likely that the extra attention will be coming from places that you don't want it from if you're looking to improve. You want other people that are legitimately looking to learn together/teach someone regardless of gender. If they're only there for your gender you're likely not getting what you want/need unless all you want is to be carried to D5.

But ehh I don't think that's the reason I got demoted from duoing...especially since I rarely talk to people in chat...let alone have someone give me advice. I do know about the problem you're talking about in which you simply give someone doing poorly a suggestion and they take it the wrong way and rage harder.

because you shouldn't be trying to attract attention by inputting gender, only to attract by your rank/post/personality.
gender itself doesn't bother me, but it's no different than adding in "Best ADC in NA, looking for diamond+ duo" - it just SOUNDS conceited and arrogant. It's not about being sensitive rather than annoyed about the SAME post. What if I made a post saying "Guy gamer, looking for diamond duo+"? Your first thought would be, "Nobody cares if you're a guy how good at you at league?". What I ask of you isn't much, join the cesspool of the duo queue seekers as a regular gamer, not a 'girl' gamer.
I'm saying this for your benefit as well, saying you're a girl only attracts the boobyhunters around NA, you aren't attracting the RIGHT audience. Put relative information in and you just may find yourself a decent duo.

i've been duoing with people my rank, mainly plat 2s and i don't think it worked out very well. I got demoted to plat 3, so now I got plat 2 back solo -___-.
