Hi, I'm a Kennen main that just hit level 30. I've been playing a few games to get ready before jumping into ranked, and I was wondering if someone could take a look at a replay with me and point out some mistakes I made? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this, my IGN is Darude Maelstrom. Thanks again! :)

Congrats on getting 30! If you want to get into ranked, you can one trick Kennen, but you should try to pick up one more champ before you start ranked so that you can still win the game if Kennen gets banned, or if you are facing a Kennen counter.

As for the replay; are you talking about the victory or defeat game? Honestly, if you really want to see what you have incorrectly, you should watch replays of a loss instead of victory. All the replays in the link are of victories which isn't a bad thing, but you won't notice certain/key errors in your play if you just watch replays of your wins.

I'm happy to help! ^_^

That is fine if you have a really aggressive play style; it is actually a good palystyle to capitalize on enemy mistakes in lane. When I want to go aggressive against my enemy laner, I try to keep a few things in the back of my mind:

  • Where is the enemy jungler? If their jungler is at a different lane than I have a green light to attack.
  • Who has more creeps? If there are more enemy creeps, then I should NOT attack because then I'll take creep agro which deals A LOT of damage early game. Minions OP!
  • Is there a level difference. Levels 1-3, & 6 are big power spikes because players have access to another ability (dependent on champ). If I'm a level 3 and the enemy is level 2, then I can go aggressive cause I have an extra skill. If we are both the same level, then it is ok to attack depending on the enemy champion. If I'm a level behind I should play safe. If I'm 2+ levels behind, I should play VERY SAFE!

Advanced thinking:

  • Does the enemy laner have any cc that can screw my fighting up. I'm an Anivia main and my q is a stun on a 12ish sec cool down. If I'm facing an enemy Anivia and I see her use her q, I now have a 12 sec window to attack her.
  • What items do each of us have completed. If I am playing Kennen against a Zed and I have hourglass completed, and Zed only has a BF Sword and 2 long swords, I have a green light to attack because I have a completed item and Zed does not.

It may seem like a lot to keep track of, but it WILL get easier the more games you play. Champion spell cool downs are a lot to remember, I don't even know the specific times for some champions like Olaf cause I don't play him. I just think about what spell the enemy has that is the biggest threat to me, will most likely have cc. Again this will come with experience.

I admit, I'm not perfect, sometimes I forget to check some of these things like items, and where the jungler is, but just having a few of these rules down to the point of them being instinct makes the trades in lane go in my favor more often.

For you being a Kennen main, level 3 and 6 gives you a HUGE power spike cause you get all 3 skills to set up your passive stun. try setting up 2 charges to your stun right before you hit level 3, then when you hit level 3 your can level up and go get your passive stun off to deal more damage. Same thing for when you hit 6.

Jungler, creeps, levels, and warding should be doable for you. I promise that you will notice that you will come out ahead in the early game more often.

If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask. :)

GL, HF in your future games! ^_^
