How bad is my Janna?

Astrea Myrth··1 votes·704 views

So I've been practicing her in norms in gold elo and people tell me my Janna is good. I have a feeling I'd get rekt in plat-diamond elo though and that's where I eventually wanna be. Any plat-diamond adcs wanna test this out with me in norms and give me some pointers?

You don't need tips to play a brain dead support.

Shield at optimal times. Ward. Dodge skillshots. Use Exhaust. Push R. And sometimes you can even flash+R.

more about how good your supporting is in general, janna mechanics are pretty limited. this is coming from a reksai main, which is almost the equivalent of janna but in the jungle. if you can jungle well, and have played a bit of reksai (or support well, and have played some janna) then it's pretty easy to play her well. considering you're gold, chances are your supporting isn't that amazing but idk.

As someone who mostly plays against Janna, and only rarely as, what I notice most about Janna's is timing.

Whether it's shield timing, or having a good innate sense of how far a tornado will go for its current channel time, or when(and where) to ult during team fights. Or just plain reaction speed to tornado gap closers.

In lane, she has serious power troughs when shield is down. Pre-shielding is something you have to be very wary of. Once it goes down, you and your partner are missing a major tool to handle a trade. I'd really suggest trying not to shield until shots are in the air if at all possible. I know that I personally abuse bad shield timing constantly when up against Janna players, so I'd say that's the biggest thing in lane.

Other timing and positioning is practice and game sense.

Your Janna blows.

The tears of your allies form a monsoon.

Personally I think Janna is one of the harder supports mechanically. Can anyone play her? Sure. Can anyone play her WELL? That's a different question.

Rn I'm mainly focusing on:

  • Using her q right (to interrupt dashes, etc.)
  • Positioning, since she's squishy af
  • Using her ult at the right time
  • Timing the shield right in lane

Stuff like that.

Neways, none of you who posted have played with me, so thx for the bumps but ye. Anyone down to duo norms, add me.

Awesome tips, thank you. :)

The shield is hard in lane. I mean it's not the longest cd, but sometimes the adc moves forward and I'm like SHIELD! and then the enemies move back and it's a waste of mana. Or sometimes I misclick and put it on me instead of him... q.q Struggles.
