"This is simply a place to make new friends, find people to play with, coach or be coached, participate in tournaments and giveaways, and just be a total badass.." Is that not basically what a gaming community is?

Nope, gaming communities come with requirements and pressure.. trial periods, etc etc. This is not a community. We're an up and coming eSports Organisation, we use this discord as a way to communicate with players and also contribute to the lol community.

Actually no, not all gaming communities have that. For example, the one that I run is pressure free and has no trial periods.
