Victory Via Surrender- LF Top/JG/ADC/Support!
**Victory Via Surrender is now hosting tryouts! ** I've posted a few times recently looking for players, however, was unable to get something serious consistently rolling. This team will practice 5 nights a week, on a schedule with tournaments every other weekend (after team cohesion practices)
A little backstory behind vVs and how dear I hold this team to me: Back in the late summer of 2013, I was approached by a young community's leader, who asked me to head up there competitive department because despite my rank, he knew I knew a lot about the game and how to strategize and win. I began my search for players to fill up two teams, what would eventually be called vVs and our sister team for scrims, VG Black. At the time I was playing support and really enjoying it, so I decided originally I would find better, higher ranked players for vVs, but upon tryouts they couldn't mesh well with any of the support picks, so we pulled a Samsung and roster swapped between teams. This ended up with me playing support for team-A and that's how I met Cameron, the original mid-laner for vVs. At the time, we were unstoppable throughout our scrims and 5s play, so we started to enter online tournaments as a team and started to win. We got to the finals of a communities bracket tournament where we were beat by their flag-team. This is the first time I ever played against Sean, who would eventually, after the tournament, tryout for a jungle spot our b-team had open, in which he proved himself valuable and was eventually picked up for our main roster. Think of this period as our "good ole' days" era, with the original 3 that would take up the main roster for the following 4 months. We cycled through tops and ADCs, who were all decent but always either didn't work out or were demoted to B-team (and eventually the C-team that was conceived.)
After months of hard-work, tournaments, practice, we decided to participate in, what, at the time seemed like the biggest possible deal ever for an amateur team that was putting in a lot of work: a community was hosting a 6 week split, with 3 games as week (18 games total across the split) where we ended the split with a record of 12-6, which landed us jumping between 3rd and 4th place, however, it was enough to get us into the playoffs a month and a half later. At this time, we knew Sean would be leaving soon, so we took this as our last chance to shine with our best friend and jungler. Although we played like hell throughout the playoffs, we dropped in a game 3 that dragged 58 minutes long in the semifinals and had to leave with about 50 bucks in each of our paypals. To us though, we could've gotten nothing and if we'd won, it'd have been worth it. This was the last time the 3 original members would play together, as Sean was preparing to move and it really put us through the ringer looking for a new jungler that we went on an extended hiatus.
Months went by and I eventually tried a resurgence but we'd lost something. After playing for nearly a year with a group of players it's hard to climb back on to a new horse.
However, I'm hungry for that feeling again. It's time for the next-age of vVs.
What I as a captain offer and how I feel the team atmosphere will be:
- Tilting and what it isn't acceptable: after having gone through what seems like a hundred players by now, one thing I will not tolerate is tilting. I don't care how much you rage in solo-queue, when it comes to practice bring your happy face or don't come at all. If you're having a bad day, we'll talk and reschedule.
- Practices: Practice schedules are set in stone. If you can't make it, we have a google docs for you to reschedule through. If a sub is not available for your position, you will be responsible for finding a replacement that night WITH the proper voice comms and a microphone. Practices are Mon-Fri, starting at ~11:00 EST. you're expected to be there ~30 minutes before practice starts.
- Communication: Everyone is required to have curse voice. You will be expected to be on ~30 minutes before practice to discuss strategy, to enjoy getting to know your teammates and to prepare for the night.
- Coaching: I've got a multitude of diamond level 5s players who are willing to dispense their time, resources and energy to help us grow and learn as a team.
- Analysts: Read above.
- In general: A well-behaved, well-organized team with regular practices and a competitive drive to win, while in a tilt-free environment.
What I expect of my team:
- Knowledge of lane-matchups, flexible champion pool and a good understanding of team mechanics and strategies.
- Ability to keep cool, learn and move on.
- Ability to clearly communicate, whenever needed.
- Shot-calling ability is a huge plus.
- Build-paths and diversity.
- Ability to follow up on calls.
- Time alotted for team-building excersizes (discussing strategy, mainly)
- Ability to consistently make practices, this matters a lot to me!
- Able to handle constructive criticism. This will be post-game and PURELY constructive.
I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR RANK. THIS TEAM IS ABOUT GROWTH, NOT ELO BRAGGING.
If you are interested, I can guarantee you that you will enjoy playing with us, IF my description above is what you're looking for in a team.
To apply, please reply in the format below! (adds in-game will be ignored if you haven't posted on the forums. if you can't make a forum post to show you're interested, you're probably not the right fit for us.)
Name: Age: Curse Voice/Microphone?: Role: Champion pool (from most comfortable to least): Have you played competitively before?: Can you make practices consistently?: Are you able to handle constructive criticism?: Tell me about yourself:
** YOU WILL BE ASKED FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO YOU AND YOUR ROLE UPON ACCEPTANCE DURING YOUR APPLICATION PROCESS.**
Have you played competitively before?: Yes, was just recently on a team for over 2 months. We went from b5 to gold v as a team, but we disbanded due to members having real life issues.
Can you make practices consistently?:8pm PST, yes i can.
Are you able to handle constructive criticism?: Yes, as long as I'm not being bashed into the ground or yelled at... not into tilting or people with rage issues.
Tell me about yourself: Well, I like long walks on the beach, beer, steak.... oh... sorry this isn't the love connection... it's LoL..lol? Um... I have no life? Stay at home dad of a 5 year old son... so I really don't need to look out for him much... he plays COD all day mostly... so he may be screaming at someone in the bg.. but i use Push To talk most of the time. I understand this game.. and the mechanics of an adc. I have 2 different styles and it depends on my support and my lane match up. If the other team has a better lane.... such as a tank like leo/braum/thresh.. i play abit passive... or if my matchup is aggressive i play passive to give my jungler a chance to get some awesome assists. If they play passive or I know i have control of my lane... I play aggressive. I upgrade my trinket at lvl 9-10... I understand what it takes to come back from losing lane.. i've had games where I go 0-3 in lane, but end the game 14-4. I ONLY play adc... and I do not solo q often. I like to keep the team ranked play style in my mind. If you play solo q a lot you have that solo q mentality. Then when you play on a team, you have a solo q mentality. I know how to build my champs winning/losing. I think sometimes my positioning is a bid shaky but I work on that all the time. I tend to like my support to tell me what to do, such as going in, or backing off. If I have to be the shot caller bot, I don't mind telling my support what to do. I just feel it works better with the support telling me what to do so I can focus just on csing or poking. Only things I hate are simple... " Rage players, Blame game players, and Remaking teams because someone doesn't like the rank we get in placements. It's a waste of my time, and everyone elses. You can climb pretty fast in ranked 5s.... it's not like Solo Q. Well, this was a long about me.... sorry if you're bored.... Did I mention, I like long walks on the beach?
something is bugging my post and i cant complete it no matter how many times i try, add me in game and message me for rest of pool, questions - yes, yes, yes, im a chill guy and communication is easy
