Need some advice/coaching for jhin (D+ please)
Hey, I don't spend a lot of time in ranked, but I've loved Jhin since I first got my hands on him and I regularly perform highly in the normals I'm in. Without any specific direction I would suggest the following for Jhin and I'll give my go to build
Dorans --> IE --> Swifties (furor when convenient) --> Blue trinket -->Shiv --> ER --> Scimitar --> LW (usually dominicks)
IE is necessary for a crit based champ Swifties to compensate for lack of mobility and furor because kiting is KEY and half your spells hit as single target spells. Blue trinket for self spotting Shiv is amazing with q for safe, fast farming and crit synergy is great ER because I find CDR awesome for a 'weaving' kit such as jhins and more w/e's will help keep you away from threats Scimitar over BT in most cases as Jhin is highly susceptible to CC LW for damage multiplication and the ability to hurt tanks lategame
When I'm playing a champion I like to have some sort of tagline that I can keep in mind to help me stay within the realm of what a champion is designed for. Otherwise I sometimes find my self rambo'ing or trying to force myself into a role that I really shouldn't be. E.g. When I play Vayne I tell myself "Only hunt what you can hunt" otherwise I can fall into the rambo vayne mentality and I end up leading the charge with my dps when I should really let our malphite engage.
For Jhin I tell myself something like "I don't fight, I kill, I am an artist and they, my medium" In other words "Never give them an opportunity to fight me". I always try to stay at maximum range as I dip in and out of range to get autos off. Don't over commit to a kill either. If you can get someone down to half, you can disengage and finish them with R OR tap them with W and let your team cover them. I like to use the Fog of war to my advantage. Because of Jhin's long range you can use your W, E, and R from far enough away that no one can interact with you. I find Jhin really similar to Cait and love abusing their ranges. While cait is significantly safer Jhin is more risk and reward.
Assassins absoultely chew Jhin up and without summoners you pretty much have no chance against them. Because of this I try to beat them at their own game and I will often wait for them to appear in a fight before I engage because if I'm way in the back using R while my team engages and their LB or Rango finds me it's pretty much gg.
Despite Jhin having a reload mechanic I find he works best in medium length engages. In extended fights a standard carry can output more total damage but pound for pound I believe Jhin's entire rotation is worth more than anyone's. I aim to put one cycle of my kit into a fight, every fight. 4 shots a q w e and then i back up for an r before reengaging. This gives me maximum uptime on damage output with very limited windows in which I make myself available for retaliation.
Hopefully this is helpful.
