Questions,

What are the value of these scholarships?

How does this apply to in-state vs out of state tuition?

Is this undergrad only or does it also apply to graduate level?

Hello Maximum Morde, Much like traditional sports, the value of the scholarship will be determined by a player's personal ability and potential contribution to the team. The exact value is something that will be tailored to each recruit. Depending on a player's academic standing, and game skill, they could be offered up to a full-tuition scholarship.

We are a private institution and do not have different tuition amounts for in-state vs. out of state.

With the current development of collegiate competitive esports in the Collegiate StarLeague, ULoL, and the newly formed National Association of College eSports (NACeSports), it is likely that only undergraduate students would meet the eligibility requirements for competition. Because of that potential, we are currently only recruiting undergraduate students. This includes future high school graduates and current college students.

I honestly would love to recruit a couple of transfer students for the Spring 2017!!

Thanks for your questions, Chris Allison Head eSports Coach Southwest Baptist University SBUBearcats.com

Thanks for the answers. Shame, It would have been interesting to try and at least partially fund an MBA through such a program. Best of luck in your recruitment drive!

Do a little research on your own and see if there are holes in the eligibility requirements. I have not looked extensively at the impact on Graduate students. If you find potential, please feel free to still fill out the questionnaire!

We do have a great MBA program, as well!

As a person who played college baseball I think Esports should follow the same exact guidelines as all other collegiate sports. When it comes to player eligibility, age and transfer status ad what not. It is cool that a programs like this are starting to develop I think its awesome. Like I said I had played college baseball and now I'm currently a teacher and coach. so it is really awesome that you are are seeing these programs that allow students with not a high athletic ability to compete in esports and also a way to help students pay for education with how much higher learning costs now a days. wish this was around when I was in college. would have been fun.

It is definitely a blast watching this all develop. The NAIA has actually founded a new organization, the National Association of Collegiate eSports (NACeSports), who will be the governing body for all schools with Varsity eSport Programs! Within a year, most of the recruitment and eligibility requirements will mirror the NAIA and NCAA.

This effort is reaching an entirely new generation and genre of student athletes!

Yea I played at a private college in Oklahoma and we were in NAIA. I know a college such as what I went to could of had such an esports group. Not saying we would have gone on and won anything. League was still very new when I was in college. When I was a senior I think it was the very beginning of season 2. But almost every guy on campus played league. Whether they were on our baseball team or basketball or just a normal student. So the opportunity that all the students will have to be on a team such as this is amazing cause I'm sure some of the people I went to college with that was not on an athletic team would of loved a chance to try and make it on a college esports team.

Valid question! In traditional sports, we see two types of coaches: 1) The former pro player who turns coach and 2) The coach who cannot do, but can teach. I fall into the second category. I started playing League in January of this past year and mostly play for fun with the guys on the team. However, that is not where I contribute to the team as a coach.

I have worked as a defensive coach for a collegiate level lacrosse team. I also used to work in the mental health field and have expertise in communication training. My past experience is in data analysis, macro strategy planning, and creating efficient communication practices so that members on the team can work efficiently and seamlessly as they work together to accomplish shared goals and objectives. I facilitate practices in a way that my team works to sharpen each other, grow each other, learn from each other, and ultimately make themselves better and the team better. I use my players' skills and expertise to push the rest of the team and subsequently achieve high level performance.

I hope that answers your question...let me know if you have any others!

I agree with everything you say. A perfect example of this was Tiger Woods swing coach about like 3 coaches ago or something. At that time He was considered the best Coach in the entire world. Yet he could barely play on an armature level and could of never competed in the pga. He had a great knowledge of what a swing should be and how to get it there but he himself couldn't do it. Most times a lot of the greatest coaches are the people that were not the most physically gifted or talented player when they played. Side note yes I will spread the word. I teach 7th and 8th grade and have always recommended the game to my students that are gamers. This will be a new thing I can tell them about.

Hi there,

I previously attended Mercer University, also a Christian private school, for two years. I had to leave due to financial issues. I am currently not enrolled in college but I want to be! I am currently ranked Diamond 5 and would love to go to school to play on a LoL team! I was wondering if it would be possible for me to be eligible? I went ahead and filled out an application :)
