Hmmm? 'Same Category as us'. Last I checked solo que and team que are two very different ranking systems. Ones own rank shouldn't create friction with another unless they are judgmental.

Solo queue is somewhat of an indicator of actual elo placement. Other ways one can tell are by match history in KD, consistency, and cs differentials by 10 minute markings. When some of these things happen to be incredibly high (mostly the consistency part), it indicates perhaps you don't belong in your current division. Other than that, it's fairly accurate. (Current top laner posting btw)

In teams you usually go for your best role while on solo que you only get your best around 30% of the time. And even with your pref role you will only get your pref champ around half of those times due to team compo. Solo Q is an indicator as long as you are aware that it could be at least 3 ranks either up or down

....right. Coming from someone with pretty extensive high elo experience, in low elo ranking nobody has a main role. This level of ranking is for people who are not specialized. If you truly have a main role, you will not be below gold. I was once also in the bronze/silver scene, and as soon as I became a solid support and really devoted myself to getting better at my "main" role, I climbed eventually to mid plat. So yes, solo queue is a fairly accurate indicator with, as you said, perhaps give and take a few divisions (1 or 2 more likely). Please speak from experience, not speculation.
