vVv Gaming is officially launching the 7th Season of our Amateur Draft League!! We'll be playing every Sunday and Friday at 9pm EST (6pm PST) on the vVv TeamSpeak Server starting October 16th until December 6th, with the finals being played on December 13th. What is the ADL you ask, and how did it start? Well, let me tell you a story...
Every League of Legends player dreams of a toxicity-free environment filled with other competitive gamers that are still looking to win while also having fun, making friends, and most of all, IMPROVING! vVv Gaming has created an organized event to provide a unique experience to make these dreams into a reality. We focus on quality of the event instead of quantity of people attending; we focus on providing a (good!) memorable experience; we focus on competitive gamers, their needs, wants, and motivations.
We have a complete set of rules and procedures unique to our event that ensures the quality of the experience as well as guarantees to reward players who prove themselves the most talented. The highest rated players that show up that night will be designated as captain (20 total players = 4 captains; 30 players = 6 captains, etc.). After 4 weeks of regular drafting to regulate our ADL ELO (scores are public through our own stat tracker), the players with the highest ADL ELO will be put into our "Champion Tier". People who are originally placed into the Champion Tier can drop out, and people who are not originally placed in the Champion Tier can be moved into it, based on their ADL ELO. This way there is a consistent feeling of progression and competition as the season runs. To keep the matches interesting and the stakes high, we hold a final 20-person tournament where we include the highest-ranked players who show up to determine prize payouts for 1st-4th place. We also have our own rules in place for reforming and eliminating all toxicity from our events!
Drafted teams (takes approx. 15 minutes) will only be kept for 2 games (1 night). We have had anywhere from Challenger to Bronze 5 players participate. No one is restricted from showing up solely based off of their rank! Over the previous five seasons, we have had hundreds of unique summoners attend, and many of our own members have risen from Platinum to Diamond and Silver to Gold thanks to the feedback given and level of play they experience. By using TeamSpeak and having a channel designated to each team, we replicate the unique competitive 5v5 atmosphere for many players where teammates can verbally communicate while competing for prizes! Prizes will be provided by Riot and more information will be provided when we have received official approval for the event.
How to get involved:
- Join our TeamSpeak server in the “Amateur Draft League” channel and the in-game “vVv ADL” channel in the LoL Client BEFORE the start time.
- You DO NOT need to register to play! All you have to do is show up in TeamSpeak before the start time.
- For fairness in team selection, all participants should be present at the start time so that all captains have access to the same set of participants when making team selections. If you want to play and know you are going to be a little late (class, work, etc) and the time frame is within reason (<15 minutes), please feel free to message vVv Medusa, vVv Organicbear, or vVv 604 Ronin, and we will help you.
- To be eligible for Riot prizes you WILL have to register on the event site. We will provide details on where to go to do so once Riot approves our prizing request.
- If you do not get drafted due to an off number of players showing up, then feel free to stay after the draft. Depending on interest we will have the remaining players either play normals, ranked 5’s, or ARAMs. This is a great way to meet other players dedicated to learning and improving.
TLDR
- 2 nights per week, 8 week draft-style league open to the public (must be level 30 & own 16 Champs on NA server)
- Highest ranked players = that night's captains
- Captains draft their team (approx 15 minutes)
- The event begins at 9pm EST (6pm PST) every Sunday and Friday
