Creating Semi serious "Practice" Team (LF Plat+ Teamates) This is "extensive"
First off i would like to thank everyone who tried out, or filled out a response to this. I understand that their were some scheduling problems that could not be worked around and i do apologize for that, their was also a last minute schedule change that could not be avoided due to some people cancelling their tryout and simply lacking the remaining teamates to actually conduct a proper tryout, i could not allow any 1 member to try out more than twice besides the people who were already decided members of the team, and because of that i had to make a last min forced change. However i took all of that into consideration when making my final decision.
As team leader the final decision did fall on me but other members of the team voiced their opinions to me and that did have an effect on who made it and who didnt. What im going to do is post down a few of you who didnt make it and give a few reasons as to why i chose someone else, ill give you a little bit of advice from my point of view that i think could help you should you care to read it.
Aside from the support every role has already been decided Everyone has made the general decision of who they would like to be on the team but we need to have one final discussion about it. everyone else who initially made the starting lineup have been notified, i believe i asked everyone if they would be ok with subbing, that offer is still on the table for those that are interested, if you would simply like to discuss how you could improve or anything league related, Or fill in for a practice day, then the sub position is still open.
Either way this is the results of the tryouts for those that i did not contact:
The Flopsy - Top lane
You were playing well, we left a powerful top laner open, and the enemy picked it up, despite that you were able to keep up in CS which was no easy feat, however you did voice a few complaints, repeatedly, explaining how "Bad" the enemy was for allowing you to farm, the problem with that was that you voiced that opinion "multiple" times, and that seemed to be a re-occurring pattern, you asked for jungle help, which is fine, but then voiced it multiple times through early game. The Jungler decided that the better decision to make was to save Mid lane rather than camp the top laner that you were actually able to manage in relation to what was happening on other places on the map. Apart from that, you had a tendancy to voice things that impacted the team in a negative manner, such as saying "this is why we should have shut "x" champion down" that particular attitude brings up a mistake made in the past, brings it to light, and Inadvertently shames your teammates.
When we moved into the second game, we were performing much better, but you started to voice things that were not relevant again, such as telling one of the offtanks that they were not as tanky as you and pretty much gloating about how much armor you had. I understand that explaining to your team things like MR and Armor are important but within the context of the situation that occured it was nothing more at the time than side chatter.
In closing I thought your mechanics such as focus were on point, but you have some things to work on at the mentality stand point and at a decision making level, this is my advice to you. You told me two things that i wanted to address, first you said that if you are not having fun you are not trying as hard. To that i say, "Fun" is a subjective term, my goal is not to have fun, my goal is to win, in most peoples minds, fun, only happens while winning, and after the win, generally losing, is not fun, if you are not having fun eventually, you tilt, with that in mind, i had to adopt a new policy, "Playing" win or lose, is fun, but winning, is the point. Winning, is the goal. You said you want to learn why your stuck in plat. well, even if your teamates dont create this pleasant amazing atmosphere that you can be comfortable in just the fact that you are in a game of league of legends should be all the "fun" you need, dont let something so subjective effect your decisions and distract you from your goal, your goal is to leave plat V and climb, so you need to put yourself in the position where, your teamates dont effect how you play.
As far as your attitude goes i could tell that you were extremely overconfident, to the point that i would even call you cocky, it showed in not only how you played but also how you spoke, You Overestimated what you could do without your team, such as making the assumption that you could hold off the entire enemy team alone (1v5 teleport at dragon), you assumed that if the team funneled all of its recources into your lane that you could essentially, make up for Mid lanes(kat the mighty) weakness with your own strength. Remember that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.
Praesidium - ADC
We didnt have any issues when you made your post or spoke to me through the chat, but when the tryout came around it was one of the quietest, There was minimal communication going on, at any point. I could tell you were trying to speak at some points as every now and then you would say "something", but you had to almost be pushed to talk. After asking several times for and ban ideas or comp ideas there was pretty much no feedback, no real ideas for comps. essentially for starting off that is fine, but after that there was another issue, you voiced the opinion to me at one point that you felt there was no need to communicate with your support because you were losing lane hard, essentially when you started losing lane, you decided not to talk at all. You were able to secure and assist in many kills. But i feel that the reason for that is simply because the team generated so much threat that there was no opportune time for the enemy to focus you.
Ultimatly The major decision comes from lack of communication, and you not really realizing yourself, or expressing to me that you realized, that the lack of actual communication between you and your supports were the biggest issue to your laning phase and detrimental to team morale. I believe some key phrases you said were. "we didnt need to talk much because we synergized well" when you won and then later on "We didnt really talk much because we were just losing" when you lost, im paraphrasing this but you can see there were some contradictions.
as far as improvement is concerned, it was actually voiced to me by two different people and two different tryouts that you had an issue with kiting, and i noticed you had an issue with focusing and positioning. You do your best to stay alive, which is a good thing, but it is to the point that at times you are doing "nothing" else but staying alive, you have to be less afraid and more aware of what your opponents are doing, kiting is fundamental to an adc, and positioning is fundamental to any carry. In particular there was an instance where you abandoned a teamate because you didnt want to die, you left with 100% hp and the fight was close, but ultimatly lost. another time you secured a triple kill, but could not clean up the fight because you moved into position and then flashed in front of the enemy ADC without even realizing it, by the time you noticed they had already started attacking you. You were confident at times but it was only when your teamates were powerful enough to hold their own, sometimes the team will be relying on you heavily to be the blunt of the damage when they can not output it themselves, at those times you need to use them to your advantage and make every moment count, in the end you staying alive means nothing if your entire team dies.
The New prohecy - Support
You didnt show up for the second tryout, which again, was not your fault, as it was last min, i took that into account, For the most part you didnt communicate, at all. And i got the feeling that you didnt even want to try out again when you messaged me afterwards, what little you did say decreased as games didnt turn out well.
when speaking to you afterwards you told me that everything went fine bot lane and the adc played fine and that you were the major issue. you were simply beating yourself up, which is somewhat self centered because that would not help your adc improve at all, there were issues during laning phase and you were not the sole problem, Both you and the adc were caught together several times, you died multiple times but never said anything about it. it was more along the lines of you both dying, and it was basically just like "damn, i died" and the game goes on. understanding what you did wrong is imperative for self improvement yes, but not spotting "any" weaknesses or being to afraid to say what was wrong with your teamates isnt helpful to the team. It has to be Give and take.
As far as improvement and climbing goes i think you tilt a bit to easily, you have to realize that even when you are playing poorly you have to try and salvage the game, even if your having a small impact on the game you still have a part to play. maybe you were nervous as well, but i think you were trying to hard to impress your team, which caused you to be in a lot of awkward places, at a point you should move to support your stronger lanes to try and force objectives and the enemy team to group. when lanes are lost the best move is usually to go fully defensive or just group.
UJicked - Support
This was a hard choice to make, but their was a lot of consideration between the team as to which support to pick and why. in your first tryout you were very vocal and voiced timers, you were very mechanically competent, made good picks, and roamed often, i think you utilized roaming well as to make up for some of the weaknesses that were occuring in lane. all in all a good job, however during the second tryout things seemed to fall apart communication wise. their was a lot of ideas being thrown around and i believe you were two agressive for the adc. in the sense that you were trying to take control of the lane and force him into a playstyle he did not agree with. i also came to realize this on some of your roams mid, you have a strong presence but you tried to hard to take charge i think. there were times when you caught an amazing 2-3 man knock up, but no one was around for the follow up, you possibly Over estimated the skill level of Yasuo(kat the mighty) despite the fact that you were informed that the players skill level playing that champion was low.
several times you said you were going in and the team voiced not to, and you made the decision to follow through with your decisions for better or for worse. Because of that certain members had the idea that you would be much harder to work with, in the sense that you would be to hard to convince to change playstyles. Between you and the other support you two are on two completey different sides of the spectrum, in both mentality and champion picks. The key issue is that i think your presence was overbearing, to the point you essentially suffocated the Adc he didnt much voice anything anymore and was essentially just playing because there was the feeling that their was no point.
My opinion personally is that you were very good at spotting opportunity, but you need to focus on knowing when to let some things go. A good play is not always a good decision. you have good ideas as well, but the way you relayd the information came off to Matter-of-factually.
