It's unfair to match people who can buy runes vs. those who can't.

Any tier runes less than 3 are a noob trap -- in the long term they are nothing but an IP sink and serve no purpose after level 20. Why does matchmaking put people who can at best buy tier 1 runes vs people who have full sets of runes?

It's a completely unfair.

Stop complaining, I´ve been playing on this lvl 6 smurf against 30´s and still pull-even. It´s a slight advantage.

Runes are slight early game numbers, don't get me wrong they're wonderful for last hitting and trading, but when it comes down to it you have to out play people. If you're stating that runes are causing you to lose, you need to re-evaluate your skill placement.

I only have two Tier 3 runes, and I can tell you that skill is still the primary factor in determining a win or a loss. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think ELO is a more important factor than number of runes purchased.

It wouldn't necessarily be fair to restrict someone's runes in an auto-balanced match just because they have them.

Better question is, why dont players get all teir 3 runes at level 30, and do not need to grind hours upon hours to complete rune sets.

I kind of disagree with what people say about runes. Having runes gives a huge advantage early game. I notice it the most in the jungle, or while poking as adc. I don't agree with you that any runes less than tier 3 are a "noob trap". Tier 1 runes are extremely cheap and offer great stats per ip. Tier 2 are a complete waste in my opinion. If you can't get tier 3 runes yet, you should definitely have a full set of tier 1. Having any runes at all doesn't make up for bad playing. It's kind of hard to blame losses or bad plays on not having runes. That being said, if you don't have any runes at all, you are wrong. And if you CAN buy tier 3 runes, and you haven't, you are also wrong. So very wrong. Good luck dude.

Notice it most in jungle, then as a tank, an adc, supp... But, low rune players tend to get matched lower teir of players, unless they are good enough to go lvl 6 vs lvl 30. In which case, you know runes don't make the plays. Players do. But to answer your question... Riot is geared towards competitive players MORE than casual players. And as for "noob trap", check this discussion. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/live-gameplay/fe8AtIgU-lets-talk-about-reforming-the-rune-system-riot

The problem i have with tier 3 runes is that they are too expensive imo. When i hit 6300 IP i want to buy a new champ instead of an incomplete runeset.

Runes, imo, mainly hit jungle the hardest. Try jungling without a book and see just how much more roughed up you get in there. although mainly when you're pre-30 where you only have like 2 armor from runes.

As for level 30's, a full set of T1 runes should put you close enough to T3 runes so that it's mainly a skill difference, the better runes is mainly a tie-breaker for very closely skilled players. If you know you're fighitng players who have more runes than you, just play more defensively, they still can't dive towers.

What I don't like are T2 runes. They're expensive, they lure players into getting them over T1 runes, and you will have to replace them with T3 anyways, not only that, they're barely an improvement over T1's. That is the true noob trap.
