I definitely think this is a good first step and I'm eager to see what other measures they're going to take to eradicate the bots that are currently there now. I suppose the active bots may dry up in time as they become far less lucrative, but I have a suspicion that they won't solve the entire problem.

No what they need to do is start banning IP addresses...who carea bout people who share because guess what they ruin the fun for the entire family and they can explain to the other people who use there internet why no one can long into there league accounts.

I'm glad they are making a move here... but this could have been done a year ago.

I want them to drop the hammer. I'm not seeing anything like that yet.

This should definitely help but bots are becoming a huge issue. I mean I play level 30 Co-Op vs. AI games mostly and I've never seen bots until about 2 days ago, but they've literally been in 50% of my recent games over the past 2 days, sometimes more than 1 bot too.

The issue with referrals is one problem but isn't there another possibility too? People sell the bot accounts right? Well, who's buying them? It's not people who are just too lazy to level up to 30 by themselves (although in some cases it is) but I'd wager it's people who's main accounts have already been permabanned for legitimate reasons. The same people who got banned for being toxic are still being toxic by creating the demand for bot accounts because they don't want to start over from level 1 and are too obstinate to quit the game. I'm not really sure how Riot should go about fixing this issue, but if IP bans are possible that should be implemented for sure (not that I imagine it's hard to overcome.)

This is a great double whammy, taking away the need for botters to use hundreds of accounts to level the one they are planning to sell, and handing out better rewards for players who play honestly and only have a couple of friends who join up. Looking forward to seeing humans in games again.

Yeah, I may actually see about getting my friends to play once those changes are out...

found some pages where the Botters are congregating. Come tell them how much you hate them, and publicly humiliate them https://www.facebook.com/League.of.Legends.bot http://botoflegends.com/forum/forum/33-tools/

As long as Google is around, NOTHING is safe on the internet...

This is great news for everyone who has been struggling with bots ruining matches. Hopefully Riot has something in the works to address the desire for people to get level 30 smurfs, too.

I am confused by why you want Riot to address the desire for people to get level 30 smurfs, Many LoL players have smurfs and there is no reason to get rid smurfs. All smurfs are is a account that is in lower elo then their main account and people get their accounts up into the same elo just because they're bored.
