New Summoners Rift feels.....empty? (examples) * /r/leagueoflegends

Let me start off first and foremost congratulating Riot for a job well done in terms of the new map. The direction, the style, the clarity, and even the performance, it's a bit of a masterpiece when considering how much they wanted to tackle and how much was achieved. I'm a huge fan of it.

I've been following the map since it was first revealed in the summer and I loved the direction and couldn't wait to try it out myself. Now that it has been on the live servers for a bit (I don't have a pbe account ;_; ) I've been able to whet my whistle and finally explore the map I've been watching countless videos of. I do feel the colors are not has vibrant as they were when the map was first announced.

Luckily some lovely people of the community (nipsss) have brought this concern to light and generated a wonderful discussion on reddit found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2m78ax/new_summoners_rift_feelsempty_examples/

I understand keeping clarity intact for gameplay purposes, I'm a strong advocate of that as well! However I really don't believe much clarity would be lost if the saturation and colors were brought up to make the map seem less flat. I must say I did not really notice it until going back and forth between the new map and the old one.

One image I would like to share is a screenshot of what another devoted player on reddit (EntityZero) was able to achieve with a slight mod to the game files:

http://i.imgur.com/eWE00A5.jpg Doesn't that look more natural? Doesn't this feel like league? And in the end the clarity is still all there.

I would like to ask if it would be at all possible to bring the life into the new map and color correct accordingly to give the map a feel that is **Lively ** and Warm. Or what if we could get the option through sliders to amp up the saturation and color if we chose to? This option would keep everyone happy if they still favored the current look! I look forward to hearing what you guys think here and also hearing from any potential Rioter would be lovely~

In would be wonderful if I could achieve this beautiful look without having to mod the game files.

I agree completely. The upped saturation preserves the "feel" of League of Legends. The current "dull" look feels like it belongs in a different game.

Edit: I would love a saturation slider. I absolutely do not feel that upped saturation would make the gameplay less clear.

I 100% agree with this. My first though when I played on the new SR was that it looked way too saturated.

The edited version looks too saturated to me, it reminds me of going to Best Buy and seeing the TVs with everything cranked way up. It has less fidelity but the common, natural response seems to be that more saturation is better.

For me, that over-saturation makes it more distracting as well.
