Does it get better?

I'm a relatively new summoner. I have been trying to pick up PvP and get the team builder icons. I had only been playing bot games before these, and after playing a few PvP games I'm starting to feel like I am not actually learning anything about this game. Every game, at least one member of one team disconnects, teammates don't listen (while I try to give super deliberate advice like WHY YOU KEEP GETTING KILLED BY TOWERS and why that is bad), and victories are almost comically lopsided. I get that I still have a lot to learn, but I'm wondering how often you actually get the thrill of working as a team vs. wondering if anyone is even going to show up to play the game when you queue up. I guess I'm asking.... does this get better?

Once you hit level 30 player atmosphere vastly improves. You'll always get negative grouches and rage quitters, but there are some nice people who play well. What I do is whenever I found someone that synergies well with me I friend and put a note on them saying how I met them. Since I main support and adc most of my friends list are supports adcs and junglers.

With a large friends list of people I play well with there's almost always someone that I can duo queue with. And when someone goes afk DON'T GIVE UP! About a week ago I was with a great team and we won a 3v5.

make friends with people who dont suck and you wont find your self solo q-ing. Trust me, i really hate being by myself sometimes. Making friends is good :D

There will always be ups and downs when you play League due to all of the variables going on in any one game. And sometimes there will be a team with a great comp and experienced players whereas the other team has an odd comp with inexperienced players. Just remember that winning doesn't matter until you get to Ranked.

To be perfectly honest, I've befriended and played with other summoner's with posts like this and they turn out to be toxic in one way or the other. So ask yourself this... are you staying positive in a match? Are you uplifting your team and setting goals? Do you chat and ping responsibly? Are you an honorable player in both victory and defeat? I'd hate to assume, but I wasn't born yesterday.

Thanks for everyone who responded. I am trying to stay level headed while learning the game and there is some good advice. I have just had a handful of games over the last few days that have contained almost every type of toxic/troll-ish behavior.

You should not aim to get the thrill of working as a team because sadly you are not going to get it 99/100 games. You should maybe watch pros and see what they do or just play to better yourself. It will get better in a sense that as you level up and get smarter so will your teammates. You will know more about the game and so will your allies and opponents the higher level of gameplay.

Team Builder is also kind of the worst queue in terms of trolling etc.

I would say it gets better. I have noticed when playing normal with people who typically play ranked they are much more relaxed. You will still get people that rage sometimes, but not as much as before.

Yeah, you can expect a pretty significant difference between level 12 and level 30 play.

It is worth mentioning, though, that the game is pretty different without runes and masteries - bear in mind that hp values, damage output, clear speed and such are going to change significantly from what you're currently experiencing. So, take care not to internalize "this is how much damage I can do" and try to apply that information when you're level 30.

I agree with the spatula made of iron-when you hit lvl 30 and even when your in your lvl 20s you won't get smurf accounts who rage at you for everything or REAALLY new players-referring to your team mates who apparently keep getting killed by turrets. When you found a player in your match who does well and cooperates with the team, add him/her but just remember EVERYONE has a bad game sometimes so if you are playing with your mate and they don't do great. Don't get annoyed at them and just remember the good matches that they have had

TBH It might get a little better after u get to lvl 30 if you arent already and if you somehow manage to get passed silver maybe people won't disconnect etc. as much but for the most part probably not. :(

I suggest watch people and how they play and try to add people until u get a good little group together that you enjoy playing with :)

Hope this helps

unfortunately the people only sightly get better personality wise. I've been playing over 3 years now and what keeps me going in this game are the games where everyone works together and you win as a team. It does happen, and it is amazing. I guess the best thing to think about is if you want to have fun don't worry about losing. If you want to get better just worry about yourself and keep thinking "what could I have done better that time" and keep learning.

Teambuilder probably isn't the best experience; I'd say most people (myself included) use it to test out new champs/builds/roles/team compositions (or just tryhard and rage, I have no idea why though). I don't think I've actually had the thrill of working together as a team till I got to high bronze/silver, but yea, it does get better :)

If you want some help early on, try ARAM out. I play it about 75% of the time and I've found that a lot of skills needed there translate to SR pretty well. Not everything, of course, but enough that I can see improvement when I go from one to the other.

Feel free to add me, I just started playing a few months back so I know how hard the journey can be in 2014 when compared to how it was in 2009.
