Personally, I love ARAM. It provides a fast-paced, totally different experience than the rest of League games. When you're tired of normals (which can be slow-paced and hectic in soloque), ARAMs help me pump myself up again. I just love the risk involved. Here's why I love it.
-
Learn Champions - I'm fairly new to League; I've been playing for about 6-7 months. I love getting into an ARAM and getting one of the free week champions that I don't know a lot about. I love it because it's an ARAM, so it's fast-paced and more lighthearted than a regular game. I don't rage so much at the end of an ARAM, and teammates won't flip if you aren't amazing with your champion because it was randomly selected. I also love it because it's enough time usually to start to feel out combos and utility in their kit, and by the end of the game, I feel like I started to learn a new champion. That's always exciting.
-
Randomness - A lot of people hate ARAM because of its unfair champion selection. And it's true, it is unfair a lot of the time. Sometimes, you'll have games where all you have is subpar supports and a Skarner against the enemy team of 3 ADCs, Soraka, and a tank. Yeah, I get it, it's frustrating getting that. But the game will end soon, and I GUARANTEE you this: When you get the superior team comp, and you see the enemy's sad champion pool, you'll feel crazy happy. Because you know you have the superior selection. So the randomness works in your favor about half the time you join an ARAM.
-
Teamfights - I feel like over half my SR games feel so disconnected from the rest of your team. A lot of SR is laning phase, and then even when you start to roam with various members of your team, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll even get badass teamfights. In ARAM, however, teamfights are a huge priority. Everyone is so close-knit in the one lane, the only option is to eventually teamfight and synergize with the rest of your team.
-
Pacing - Like I've said multiple times, the pacing in ARAM is much faster, and I love it. In your description, you complain that game ended in 8 minutes. For me, I wouldn't rage at all. You have a DC, and an incompetent team, and you got to end the crappy game in 8 MINUTES. You surely could lose that one, enter another ARAM, and have a 50/50 chance at getting the superior comp in the next round, and take a sweet victory in the amount of time one SR round takes.
-
Reliability - This is a huge one for me. In SR, you feel like the games matter more; they're longer and everyone has a set role and destination which you rely on them to fulfill. I've noticed that when a DC occurs in SR, or my ADC is feeding and I can't support them past their own stupidity, I get really upset. However, in an ARAM, if someone is unreliable, or disconnects, the game is almost instantly over and the enemy team is always pretty understanding, and I feel a lot less upset, because it's less time in a game that I feel is nearly unwinnable. On the other side of the fence, when you WIN a 4v5 in ARAM, THAT is the best feeling ever. It's almost impossible in SR to win a 4v5, but it's surprisingly common in ARAM. It's happened to me tons of times.
Those are just SOME reasons. Keep playing, and just remember to have fun and accept that one game is only one game, and that the next one is entirely different. Sometimes you'll get a crappy champion, sure; but sometimes you'll get your favorite or your main, or one that is super OP (cough-SyndraNidJinxNamiBlitzMorgZiggsOriSoraka-cough). Know that sometimes, yes, superior comps are pretty much unbeatable (like the Nid, Ziggs, Ori, Jinx, Nami comp I had a month ago), but sometimes YOU WILL BE A PART OF A COMP LIKE THAT. <3 Have a good day, and keep playing ARAM. It's a lot more lighthearted and perfect if you want just a quick round of badassery before work or school or soemthing :D
