Twisted Treeline: "And then patch 4.20 attacked..." An analysis.

Twisted treeline, personally one of my FAVORITE maps. While not the best. I loved its faster pace and short laning phases compared to summoners rift. While not the best balance wise (it could always use improvement, but that's another topic for another day.) But as of late. Everything changed with patch 4.20. Here's some of my major issues.

1.) All the towers health and armor values have been changed around. Which would be fine, if they got all the changes that the summoners rift towers got. But they got none. No fancy laser, or shield. Nothing. In fact. They're barely even a threat to minion waves. When a minion wave approaches , all of the towers either drop to somewhere between -3 and -20 armor, so they're taking beyond true damage. May god have mercy if there's a fast pusher in the game. 2.) The towers might as well not even shoot champions. They don't do a lot of damage, and even worse. The inhibitor tower is WEAKER than the outer tower in every which way, heck. I think it even goes down quicker than the inhibitor it protects. 3.) The jungle changes have came over to this map, but with zero of the balance changes. Which, depending on your view either screwz the jungle. Or buffs it. Devourer should not even be available in its current form. Specially seeing as you can get it pretty much by the 10 minute mark. Or less

And what do we get from those changes? While on summoners rift, some of the preseason changes were aimed at anti-snow balling, and giving the loseing team a chance. While on the Twisted Treeline. It nearly does the reverse. Die once? Most likely lost a tower. Leave to back once while minions are at your tower? Most likely dead too. Its ridiculous. Most of the time. From the games I've played since the patch, the team that gets even a tiny advantage usually wins. Towers aren't treating. Nor is it possible to stall a game out.

Please Riot, when you go through your Preseason change list. Look at the other maps and modes, and see how they're affected as well. Just because of preseason, the twisted treeline has been adversely affected, and I don't know about others. But I don't even find it that fun, that if I make a tiny mistake. I pretty much just lost the game for it.

Wait, so they applied the stat nerfs without the other gimmicks that give towers power in SR? Riot? Explain yourself and clean up your mess!

Yeah, Feral Flare junglers are now godly on this map because of the Devourer enchantment and overall it is easier to clear the jungle. I usually get it by 7-9 minutes in depending on how the game is going. They balanced it on SR because of long respawn timers on the jungle camps but that did not happen on TT so it stacks ridiculously fast.

And yeah, towers are pathetic now. Before the patch I complained that sometimes it was too easy to turtle and you had to towerdive to close the game out or just outfarm and get a massive gold lead when you get to the inhibitor turrets at 10 minutes in and they have strong waveclear. Those games were not so fun when you snowball early but can't end immediately. It gave some sense of security and accomplishing what they wanted in nerfing fast push/early game comps in that there is more room for a comeback. Now those early game and fast push comps are stronger than ever. I think the current record for my team is an 11:13 Victory and games ending before 15 minutes is not uncommon at all. Before these games would take 18-20 minutes just to be strong enough to dive safely and if it was any sooner then it was because they got out rotated through a lack of vision and foresight getting a free tower.

Just played my first 3v3 since the patch. didn't notice they nerfed destroyed the towers. We had a jungler, they had a dou lane. I helped my jungler to clear the first camp in the enemie jungle, afterwards we ganked bot to secure firstblood, and then i went top to my tower waiting for the huge minionwave to get some nice xp. Thats a usualy jungler vs no jungler match so far for me, but a few sec later, my tower simply was gone. 1 bigger wave and 5-10sec, and the fucking tower is down from fullhealth. i can't belive they didn't hot fix that asap, u can't play 3v3 anymore. Just pick 3 adc and push down towers yolo-mode....

I don't think it's that bad that the jungle was buffed(or well, the junglers to be more precise), as it was a bit lackluster befor. However, the new jungle items need some further balancing on all maps, devorer seems to be a bit to strong atm.

And for the towers...towers needed to be BUFFED on SR, and even more so on TT. But what happend so far was more of a nerf, and incase off TT simply overkill, the towers are far beyond useless at this state.

They don't care about other modes, period. It's pretty obvious they didn't even bother to look how other modes would be affected by the changes, and the turrets bug is probably just that a bug from the patch, but don't worry they will fix nothing until the next patch like always, until then ww free games.

They just neglacted the other maps for the time being. Riot ManWolfAxeBoss said he's gonna take a look at this.

You also forgot to mention that madred's and grez's are now 325 gold cheaper due to machete being not removed, but completely obliterated from their recipies and not adjusted.

Aside from the overpopulation of Bots... these changes are concerning indeed.

I totally agree with the OP. TT isn't even worth playing right now. Neither is Dominon. Aram is already a crapshoot.

I don't like to sit down and devote ~1hr at a time per game which is usually how long SR takes. I like faster game modes, but Riot doesn't seem to care too much about them. Maybe they could devote less resources to new skins (that have been kind of sub-par lately anyway) and put more time into making all of their maps fun to play. But I doubt Riot will bat an eye until someone from LCS expresses interest in them.

As a long time lover of TT (the only mode I play anymore). Its really disappointing the lack of attention it gets. I'd almost rather have them scrap the mode if it's not gonna be properly supported.

Yeah. To be honest. I'm normally not even critical to Riot's balancing, especially during preseason, seeing as I've been through more than one. Just this one seems a but more hectic. More so when I know some of these bugs were reported on PBE more than a patch ago.
