So sylas can absorb magic huh? so does that mean he has limit or not? if the frejlord skin is canon does that mean he can absorb any kind of magic like annie fire magic and veigar dark magic?

p.s im just confused how his powers work (thanks for answering my question im such a derp)

He can most certainly absorb annie's fire magic. If he can take up magic to survive touching true ice, then annie's fire is no issue.

Veigar's (or any yordle for that matter) magic I doubt there is any way to confirm/disprove it. Yordle magic is different to human magic and so it may act differently.

My question is what happens with people like ryze or brand, who essentially ARE magic.

I would also be interested in void magic or ascended magic from darkins or maybe targonians.

The way Sylas' magic works is that if his shackles touch a source of magic, they absorb the magic and allow Sylas to draw from it until the magic runs out.

If he simply touches a mage, he can take their power. This is why when he grabbed Lux's hand in the comic, he gained Light magic to blast his way of his cage.

It is also why whenever he touches petricite (Demacian stone), he takes the magic that the stone holds.

So, if he simply came into contact with Veigar or Annie, he could easily take their magic.

Sylas was the first champion I got to work on and as is traditional I brought too much ambition and caused a lot of confusion. Sorry internet u_u

Sylas himself can't absorb magic but he is a mage in that he can use/channel magic. Unfortunately he's been locked into some pretty cruel manacles that just happen to be really good at stopping magic creatures. His restraints are made of a material called Petricite that ancient Demacians invented, basically concrete made from ancient trees that were thought to nullify all magic (if you've seen One Piece they are like the Seastone Handcuffs).

But here's the secret to Sylas' power: he has discovered that Petricite doesn't nullify magic but absorbs it. It drinks in all magic voraciously, causing mages to fall to their knees in pain as their power is drained away, but then stores it like a battery. What's more is he has learned how to release it! He's no trained wizard; he can't shape it into complex spells but instead unleashes all that stored magic that's been drained from his body in chaotic bursts.

TL;DR The petricite manacles absorb all forms of magic with seemingly limitless voracity. Sylas is the only mage who has learned how to release it again!

I just read the Lux comic yesterday, from what I understood it is the material his gauntlets/chains are made from, it 'drinks in' any form of magic it comes into contact with, he learned how to use this from the scroll detailing how Galio works. I don't think we know if there are any exceptions to this, as in, are there certain forms of magic he wouldn't be able to use? Sylas's innate ability as a mage is to sense magic and what type it is in others, this certainly synergizes with the gauntlets as it allows him to learn maybe what he can and can't absorb, or how much he can asborb from certain people/locations/beings.

I wonder if he absorbs enough magic if he begins to inflate like a balloon. Oh lord that sounds so hot! A bunch of female mages led by Lux chaining him up and force feeding him magic until he's as big as the room!

As far as we know he can absorb and use any kind of magic.(though otherworldly magic like the void might be an exception) However his own ability to hold onto it is quite limited, which is why he still uses his petricite shackles as they absorb magic too and hold onto it, meaning that they pretty much act like batteries for him.

Sylas I see him is like a battery. He can recharge by touching a mage with his body or his gauntlets. Sylas can only use the magic until he runs out of their magic. Sylas if he was able to get into contact with them he would be able to use their magic but he doesn't keep it which is why you don't see him using Lux's spark magic when hes in the Freljord. Also if he does have a limit we haven't seen it yet Im assuming if he used World Runes he wouldn't be able to contain that magic without changing in appearance like Brand

To clarify none of the skins are canon in League of Legends lore. They are what if variants, like what if Ahri was in a modern school.

But yes Sylas can absorb magic, we do not know of a limit as of now.

Technically, it's the petricite gauntlets he wears that can absorb magic.

While he was imprisoned, Sylas figured out a way to draw energy out of it and use it.
