League of Legends Theory: The Glade and The Void are the same
Okay, so it's pretty much confirmed Riot is working on a Void Lore event. Mount Targon is worried about it, and Aurelion Sol has noted that the portal from The Void he encountered in his lore feels different than the ones in the past. Guess I'll make an horrible theory on the Void before we get any information disproving the theory.
Lulu is unique in the current lore, as she and Annie are the only champions who have their lore contain a location no other champions have a affiliation with. This is the Glade, which like The Void, is different plane of existence to Valoran, with different rules. It is described in Lulu's lore as a place where- "The rigid properties of the outside world - things like size and color - changed as frequently and whimsically as the direction of the wind." You can only gain access to the glade through help from a Fae in the woods around Bandle City.
Little is known of The Glade, due to only one champion being affiliated with it. This is similar to The Void, but to a lesser extent. However, what we do know of both of these have some similarities, leading to me constructing this theory.
Firstly I'll get a counterpoint to this theory out of the way first. There are portals from the Void in places other than Icathia, meaning one could exist in the Bandle City area. Vel'Koz and Malzahar both summon temporary rifts to the void through spells in game, and ZZ'Rot Portal summons creatures from the void. But there are also portals outside of in lore that we see, such as the one in Aurelion Sol's lore. There is also a similarity between structures depicting the Frozen Watchers and Vel'Koz's unnamed voidborn species, but there is not concrete evidence of portals to The Void in Freljord, although maybe a Rioter confirmed it at one point, I don't know. So it is possible there is a portal to the void near Bandle City.
Another thing I noticed is that both the energy of The Void and The Glade is the same color. Vel'Koz, Malzahar and Kassadin, all champions who use void energy based abilities in game, and Baron Nashor, ZZ'Rot Portal and the Rift Herald, all void monsters or artifacts, are purple. While Lulu's lore confirms that the rules of color are not concrete in the glade, Pix, a Fae from it is a purple color, and Lulu's Glitterlance is as well. So in Valoran, the Glade's energy if perceived as a set in stone color, is purple.
Also, what-if skins such as Void Fizz and the Rift Herald show that Valoran beings who become corrupted by the Void take on a purple color. While Lulu, the only being from Valoran known to enter the Void, was not physically altered nearly as much as either of these cases, she does have a purple tint to her skin, with the other Yordle female champions having blue colored skin, and her hair is purple. While this might be normal, considering yordle males have a variety of fur colors, such as Rumble's blue and Heimerdinger's yellow, we do not know for certain. Why she is lightly purple may be due to her being exposed to minimal amounts of void energy, as we know that there is a large amount of void energy located in the baron pit, where the Rift Herald stumbled upon when he was but a scuttle crab, according to Riot.
So if this poorly thought-out theory is true, why would the Fae trick Yordles into wandering into the Glade if they do not fully realize the extent of the power of the Void, and are afflicted similar to Malzahar, who willingly decided to side with the Void and make the horrors he saw a reality on Runeterra? Well, here's my take on it.
The Voidborn champions in league could be considered some of the more dangerous known Voidborn. Rek'Sai is the queen of her species, Vel'Koz has the power and authority to instantly kill his Voidborn companions in his lore, Cho'Gath is tied for Malphite as the second biggest champion in Lore, but has the potential to become as large and dangerous as Aurelion Sol. Kha'zix has potential to become very dangerous as well if he continues to assimilate Valoran's more dangerous animals, and Kog'Maw's purpose on Runeterra is unknown, but he is very dangerous for an infant. We see very few weaker Voidborn in lore or in game, but if this theory is correct, than the Fae are one race that we see.
The Fae are very weak, with Pix being significantly weaker than Lulu, a Runeterran life form, in game, only serving to amplify Lulu's autoattacks and deal damage with Help, Pix!. It seems that Lulu, if the energy she was effected by did originate from the void, was barely effected by it, not recognizing what it truly was, only that Runeterran rules did not apply, and her appearance barely altered as opposed to examples like the Rift Herald. Also, opening a portal to the void is not very unique, with Vel'Koz and Malzahar being able to do so as well. However, Pix is intelligent, and all intelligent Voidborn seem to have sort of hunger for something that they intend to satisfy. -Cho'Gath revels in fear and mayhem, eating life forms to grow larger and more dangerous. -Kha'Zix strives to be biologically perfect. -Kog'Maw wants food, but wants it endlessly. -Vel'Koz seeks knowledge, as much as possible to learn from Runeterra. -Rek'Sai seems to intend to protect her domain, and does so with terrifying effectiveness. If the Fae are voidborn, than it makes sense for them to also have a hunger they must satisfy. My idea is that they feed off of tricks and mischief. This makes sense as to why they would dwell near Bandle City, home of the Yordle, a sociable and jovial race known to perform pranks on others. But if they are very weak, then they need someone else to help them, such as the Yordles. The first thing that Lulu did to try and readjust to normal Yordle life in her lore is have a large game of Hide-and-Go-Seek, during which she turned a lot of Yordle children into wild flora and fauna, which could possibly had been Pix's idea. Another thing to note is that Yordles who do not manage to fulfill their innate desire for social interaction become malevolent and twisted, as we see through Veigar. Perhaps Pix, knowing this, has the intent to eventually turn Lulu into a dangerous sorceress who enjoys inflicting pain, due to her continued failed attempts to socialize, with other Yordles fearing her bizarre magic. After all, she has two skins, Bittersweet and Wicked, which portray her as such. She does have Gnar listed as a friend to her, though, so clearly she isn't without friends.
Anyway, this theory is lousy and the boards' only purpose is for memes and complaining about dynamic queue, so please pretend you never read it.
