Ok so plz someone explain the difference between Ascended and Aspects I mean the creation process If my view is correct Leona and such are posessed by aspects- SOME kind of celestial entity so we have like TWO souls in one host body But whats tje process behind ascended are they just empower by celestial magic or are they also somewhat posessed?
Through the ritual of Ascension granted through the Sun Disc, a mortal becomes an Ascended by getting power from a celestial concept, but without getting possesed by it or merging with it. Thus all their power comes up in an instant (they can get more powerful later on if they learn even more magic but that's it. Their power doesn't grow by itself). Aspects actually merge with the concept itself. The concepts merges with him/her as its host and over time the 2 (the mortal and the concept) merge more and more until they become the same being basically. As a reference think like the servant Ishtar from Fate if you are familiar with the franchise. As a result they have a higher power potential than the Ascended but it takes much longer to reach it.
We don't actually know how Aspects came to be. They are seemingly all powerful beings than needs hosts to influence the world. The can control fully their hosts (Pantheon) or just power them and let their power and knowledge flow through them so their hosts do their own thing (the rest). An Aspect will choose it's host, so an Aspect is free thinking as well as the host.
Ascended are normal base humans who through a ritual are empowered and changed into god-like beings. The magical energy taken to complete this ritual comes from some cosmic well of it. They are not possessed, they are their own beings.
According to (classic) twitter/reddit lore, Aspects (the beings not hosts) and Ascended draw their magical energy from the same well of cosmic energy.
It is quite simple.
Ascended (much cooler imo): become awesome animal warriors by being blasted with sun magic and transforming but are still themselves (mentally).
Aspects: are taken over by ancient cosmic spirit thingies to become mighty warriors for Targon (although Pantheon/Atreus is himself but has the power of the aspects due to his perseverence activiting the weapons after the aspect was slain).
Both are essentially gods, just formed differently. I will add Xerath is not an animal because 1. He had crazy powerful magic he had learned which affected the transformation and 2. the explosion may have had something to do with him being raw energy combined with his magic.
Well... as far as i remember, a member of Riot said that they are the same... But people from different places call them diferently for cultural reasons.
