Honestly the character release choices are disappointing me.

The fact that riot keeps adding characters that have nothing to better lore, makes me sad a little. We have such great potential for new characters such as the two darkin that are missing from the lore. Or the missing ruler of guile that Noxus is supposed to have. There are so many missing characters that could fill in gaps of the lore, but instead they add magic girls who throw stars and a fire ram celestial. (don't get me wrong I like Ornn but they could've done better with characters that fit in that are missing) What do you guys think about all this?

We got a Darkin not so long ago with Kayn, so I don't expect another one so soon. They shouldn't just throw out a Darkin every few months just to "get them done".

The leader of guile you mentioned is most likely LeBlanc.

I think the additions are ok, even if I wish that Riot would focus a bit more on the non magical aspects of their world now.

Demigods, Darkin, aspects, Vastaya... we got alot of magic recently.

Things I would like to see in the future:

  • data analyst/hacker archetype from Piltover
  • Chemtech augmented female assassin from Zaun
  • Maid archetype from Piltover
  • Plant using alchemist from Zaun
  • Medic champion from Piltover

The odds of LeBlanc being the guile of Noxus isn't likely as she tried to kill Swain herself with his knowledge multiple times. Although it is possible as Swain said he'd be willing to get along with the black rose if they apologized and dedicated themselves to him, it is not likely as Swain is basically the guy that brought in the three ruler system.

The newest champ is literally Kassadin's long lost daughter (you seem to be 1 champ release behind, given you seem to think Zoe is the newest champ). What you meant new champs don't add to lore?

Zoe also adds to lore, at least to an extent, she's a Targonian aspect. She's all "star-y" and stuff because that's what the faction is about (Targonians are basically celestial body snatcher aliens with star powers who may or may not take over the personality of their host after infesting them, but certainly would at least influence them), for the most part anyway given Pantheon is the only one there who doesn't have that much to do with star-y themes besides using himself as a meteor.

Sounds like to me you're more interested in seeing characters that has been mentioned or referenced in other parts of the lore over the past few years (coughKaisacough) rather than getting completely new & original characters not brought up before. You're more interested in learning more previous hints or potential plot threads that involve those characters. Completely new & original champs aren't hitting the mark for you because they add nothing to those threads you want to see more of. For example, it's like preferring to see the Ruined King become a champ or getting a champ related to the Ruined King over Riot introducing a new character with no ties to pre-existing plot threads.

Honestly, all I can say is: Ok. I mean, if that's what you prefer, there's nothing to really say. Riot has recently shown that they're will to bring back those old, teased characters & make them champs coughKaisacough. But not every character needs to add to some pre-existing plot threads or fill out some pre-exist hole. That's not how a world with a shit ton of characters work. Some champs needs to have some more personal & smaller scale stories that doesn't add to a shit ton of other characters' stories. What they're doing is mixing it up. Add some new & originial characters with no ties to bigger plots while also adding characters related to ongoing plot threads.

And I will say this. Champs like Ornn & Zoe do add to the lore. Sure, they don't add to any subjects you might be interested, but they still add to the world of Runeterra & there respective regions.

Well technically Ornn not only introduced demigods, but he is also the one who made Braums door and more importantly the howling abyss, thus actually solving some mysteries about that, even if they weren't a big deal before.
