Darkin I need help understanding

Can someone please tell me more about the Darkin? Before they seemed interchangeable with demons, but now they seem that way with the void. This is probably me being intrigued and attached to the darkin and ultimately just said and not wanting to accept that they might be just another antagonist that like to kill/ take over stuff just because (see demons, shadow isles, noxus and void). But was kinda hoping for more. But I digress, will we get more about their real motivation soon or have to wait on the Aatrox update or even later? Because so far the darkin look like a group of invaders that lost and are salty that they ultimately killed their people and shifted the blame on humans.
