What are your opinions on the lore being kept unpublished for months/years

The Zyra lore was done 6 months before it was published. The new Seju/Udyr story was written 5 years ago and it got published few days ago. The Darkin update was supposed to be released with Varus but ended up being released months later.

So what do you think? Is it good that they are storing more for bigger releases or is it bad that they are making us wait?

I don't really mind it. Of course once we know about a story I'd like to read it as soon as possible, but I have no problem with unknown stories being held back for an appropriate release time. It's not like that negatively affects the rate at which Riot puts out new content, if anything it helps to space it out more evenly.

I don't really get why they wait at all.

if the unpublishing is due to not being a 100% sure about thats where they want to take the lore that's one thing but if they are withholding lore updates for outdated champions for 5 years simply to maximize profit then thats just a reprehensible disservice to fans.

Just tell us what Yordles are, what's the wait? :-P

I think it's fine. It's good for them to have a better idea of their universe internally than we have on the outside anyhow since it can help them write accurately to the world they wish to create, and it's easier to change unreleased details of the world while they're confined internally.

Besides, content being dug up and reused later isn't uncommon for Riot in other senses. Examples:

  • Various champions have been in the works internally before but ended up coming out much later (Elise is a good example of this.)
  • Some items returned from the past, albeit possibly different (item 3905 and more recently item 4403 on Nexus Blitz)
  • Etc.

I understand that they need to wait for the right time and they also want to profit from it, so they had to wait for the marvel deal and then publish it that way so they make money and thats completely fine.. But I hope now that they have so many outlets they will publish stories more often and never let a story wait for years...

They should remain unpublished indefinitely.

It's so all over the place after retcon it should never be released.

I'd imagine it'd involve some factor of needing the world they're building en-masse to be finished entirely, and half another factor of it simply never fitting into any releases. I wish FFxiv put out content at the rate League did, even if it was just stories.
