Chiara Bautista

I don't want to seem like I'm bitching about Kindred's design. She's visually the best looking character I think in League by a longshot. She's distinct, beautiful and amazing. I love Lamb and wolf so much.

But uh. Chiara Bautista's artwork is more than a little bit similar. I'm guessing it was a vague memory, but uh. The resemblance is kind of obscene.

Her primary characters are... https://scontent.fsnc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/10384297_944859255566928_5253249527539754994_n.jpg?oh=7068e7db2ae134d302a49f5d77618a1a&oe=56872316

And her art tends to have repeating motifs of people being impaled by arrows, death... and err... one of her more well known comics first panel is...

It's a little weird. I doubt it was intentional, but I somewhat worry.

This has been adressed already. Riot said that they saw these artworks only after they had nailed already kindreds design.

And honestly the similarities are rather superficial(black wolf and white girl with a harmless animal as a theme and a mask) and kindreds design does make a lot of sense. I mean the basic idea for kindred was a champ who represented yin&yang, life&death. And when doing a champ like that it makes sense to base them around opposites,to make one male and one female(I know that yin normally is female, but it isn't uncommon for yang to be represented as female in popular culture). Wolf and sheep simply made too much sense to be passed up. They are one of the most iconic hunter&prey-relationships out there and the sheep is sometimes associated with life, while the wolf as yin resembles the black dogs who are a symbol of death. Not to mention that yin&yang always have a bit of the other inside them,so they could add some "wolf in sheep's clothing"-vibe into it.

The choice to make lamb the active member and wolf the passive one probably comes from the fact that yang is the active element, while yin is passive(and the fact that a humanoid wolf would have been too similar to warwick/a sheep as a companion would be lame)

It was later in the development time that they decided to shift kindred from representing life&death,to representing different aspects of death.

Overall I think the general inspiration for the design was more likely princess mononoke http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/14500000/Princess-Mononoke-princess-mononoke-14520433-1024-768.jpg
