@riot Do you guys ever consider making skins based on other skins? (Art discussion i think?)
Hey everyone, So as far as I understand, skins tend to fall into three different categories,
There's category A which is more or less an expansion of the character, such as tyrant swain, who is just swain from a different angle.
And there's category B: Which is essentially a different approach to a champion entirely, such as super galaxy nidalee
Then there's category C: Which is when you make a joke skin, such as meowkai
So this discussion is a curiosity between whether or not categories A and B should interact?
An example might be forsaken jayce, being a reimagining of jayce, assuming he has a demon hammer and not a hextech mercury hammer. This could be the foundation of multiple new jayce skins, even just reimagining of other skins (Imagine forsaken-Full metal combo for cyborg demon jayce as an example)
Another example might be the project skins, and how they could have cool new skins on top of them. Imagine project yasuo having a set of samurai armor as well, as you can see there is a lot of intricate things that exist within the re-imagined skins.
The reason this perks my curiosity is simple: Category B skins change the theme of a champion, and category A skins change just the aesthetics. Sometimes a champion might be undesirable to a player without a certain skin, I know a raka main who only likes her because he got the reaper raka skin, without that skin he wouldn't touch the champion, Now imagine a whole subset of skins based on reaper raka (Ok that skin is kinda lame imho but hey, its just old)
Don't just say chromas though, there are cool things that pop out of chromas but almost always they change very little about the base skin other than pallet swaps and sometimes texture swaps.
Of course we also need other bbq leona variants i mean like.. only sausage? Bruh, what about a hamburger (This is a joke of course :P)
