Lux lore change :(

Hi, I'm emotional right now so sorry if it's not written properly :3, I follow Lux's lore very closely and she's my favorite character in the game I love her with all my heart and with the recent changes I have a few things that made me feel really bad that I want to share and maybe get some feedback on >_< When the Demacia update with the new Galio was released Lux had her lore changed and I was really happy to see it because it was how I always felt about Lux and she had a lot of theme in her lore that I loved and shared with her. One of them that was raised by others and not only me was that with the emphasis of hiding her magic and "hiding her spark" when she was a teen there was a LOT of parallel with a girl hiding her homosexuality, it really made me connect with her even more and I loved it. I asked a lot about it and I got response not denying it so I was happy to see that the way I see Lux was probably how she was and that made me super happy.

Time passed and there was more LGBT characters released (The 2 person inside Varus and Neeko) and I was really happy to see that League was more open to show those things but I was also worried that since the community is often really harsh about these things and questions it that maybe Riot would shy away from Lux and would remove that part of her completely since there is already another lesbian champ or change her to something different because there's already a lesbian. Some comment from the community such has "why would they do that" or "no one cares" really hurt me because for me it matters a lot and with another game (Overwatch) who has revealed one of their starting character to be gay a lot of the community questioned the developer and that made me think of Riot changing Lux so it wouldn't happen to them :s

Now with the release of Sylas and the update on Lore I saw that there is a comic for Lux that will come out but also that Lux's lore was updated and I was really sad when I saw it :( Riot changed or removed almost everything that was about Lux hiding her spark and all the parallel with her being a lesbian and even with Kahina that before was the warrior woman that Lux develop a deep bond with is now just a knight she become closes to. I really hope it is not Riot changing Lux because of the other LGBT character and the community feedback because I really care about her and she's just like me I couldn't handle Riot taking her away from me for such reasons.

I'm scared to share on the board since people can be harsh and on this theme in particular I'd understand that people disagree but I really needed to share my thought because even if for some people it doesn't matter it affected me greatly :s Thank you for reading

Nothing is being taken away, it was barely changed. The reason they had to change the bio was their new (?) word limits for biographies. So they shortened it, but I think the events that happen are still canon.

For example: Take the moment when she first discovers her powers. The old version described that she was riding home, her horse Starfire tripped and broke a leg, the scent of blood alerted wolves, Garen would want her to just kill the horse, she does not want to because of the connection with her horse, in her fear she unleashed her powers and killed them. Garen and her father take her home, she nurses her horse back to health.

The new version just says:

Riding home one fateful night, Lux and her horse were attacked by a ravenous sabrewulf pack. In a moment of fear and desperation, the young girl let loose a torrent of magical light from deep within her, routing the beasts but leaving her shivering in fear.

This is one passage that was shortened. However, her horse still broke his leg! This is confirmed in "For Demacia":

The stallion had broken his leg many years ago, but it hadn’t impaired the speed of his gallop.

So the new Bio actually describes the same events, they just shortened it because of their word limits.

Her relationship with Kahina, which is the other part that was shortened, is also different because it has not happened yet. I assume they want to keep it canon, but it did not fit with their timeline of events. Scathlocke explains it here: She will still be part of a secret order, but that will happen in the future.

Actually, it looks like they want to tell this with another story that is coming.

So for me, this is still the same Lux you found yourself in and there is a comic and a novella and maybe another story coming.

I really don't like Lux's new lore either, and I hate the way she was portrayed in Sylas' lore, but I really doubt this has anything to do with anything LGBT, and I think you read way too much into her previous lore about her being a closeted gay.

I am sorry if this bursts your bubble, and I have no ill-intentions in saying this. However, I do believe that Lux isn’t a lesbian. In her stories and her lore, there doesn’t seem to be much to support the fact that she is a lesbian/LGBT.

At the same time, there also isn’t any more against that. If Lux does turn out to be lesbian, then that’s great for you! Personally, I don’t really mind if she is or isn’t one but eh.

This is actually stupid how people misconstrue small bio tweaks like they're major re-retcons.

Entire established plot points, character background and development are not being removed without the strict condition that there was a new development that completely contradicts them. Eg. Ryze was originally witness to Icathia's destruction, which was a contradictory thing now removed.

If you think something in the bio did change, and that something has been lost. Simply understand that this is a misplaced, almost irrational anxiety. It is not removed from the character's background, but the details presented were just tweaked to focus the lore on what's the utmost relevant elements for the biography.

Writers have no idea what to do with the new lore, the base of it sucks after that retcon.
