I was just looking through Sona's bio and she has like....NO lore. There are so many questions about her that are just unanswered. Not to mention she has like 0 special interactions with champions, giving or receiving. Are there any plans for Sona lore in the near future?
She's also one of the few champions that still say "Summoner".
I'd say she's due for an update.

I was really hoping for something with the Ionia update since she was the only Demacian sans Lucian left out of the Demacia update a while back. No such luck. She didn't even get an interaction from Irelia, despite her being a dancer and having a comment for BARD but not Sona, the Ionian-by-birth musician.
I think something they could definitely do is give her some sort of interaction with Lux. Lux is Sona's "biggest fan" and for her to find out her idol is also a mage living in secret in Demacia would set up the foundation for quite a lot of development involving the two. I literally just want ANYTHING nice for Sona
She'll likely be updated alongside Xin Zhao once they release something demacia related again.
People complain that champs call them summoner
Without remembering the initial story of the fact that we control them and they know it.
If anything every champ should call us summoner. not stop calling us summoners when we are summoning champions lore wise to fight for us.
Sona has plenty of lore. We just don't know it because she can't vocalize her own story.
Sona still talks about summoners. What did you expect?
I mean she has the lore where she was put in an orphanage and every time the orphanage tried to sell her Etwahl, it would always mysteriously show up on the doorstep again whether by being returned or just showing up out of the blue, then when Lestara Buvelle heard of the unique instrument she traveled from Demacia to Ionia to go and adopt Sona and left a generous donation for the instrument as well. (Sona was trained by Lestara btw) which arguably isn't alot compared to say 
who literally has no lore now due to summoners not existing, their is literally no explanation for how he is on runeterra now since he was summoned originally by a summoner who committed some crime and fled to a different part of the institute of war, now his lore is you brought famine we are going to hang you up in your own field to die, cause why not??
Also for you daily bonus trivia tip Sona's adoptive mother Lestara is Directly responsible for Quinn's brother Caleb Dying when she and her family went upto the mountains of Uwendale to go hunting and encountered a Tuskvore ( picture a mammoth but much larger) and Caleb pushed Lestara out of the way and got gored himself, Quinn fell into a deep depression after that and a few months later went back to where it happened and found a wounded Azurite Eagle and they both got attacked by the same tuskvore but they managed to kill it when valor took out it's eyes letting Quinn shoot it with a large amount of bolts.

A rioter mentioned around 1-2 weeks ago that Talon, Sona, and Vlad are remarkably far from the bottom of the lore update list.
I'm thinking Vlad and Talon might be getting a lore update somewhere around the VS event, not sure about Sona though.
She will soon! Most likely after Soraka is getting her update , cause her name was mentioned by Riot multiple times.
