Rakan and Cosmic Dusk skin Breakdown

This is weird, Riot. Like... seriously weird.

I have been a writer basically my entire life. Not too long after I started grade school did I start writing as well. Given that I continue to write to this day with over a hundred fifty published stories in the past ten years, that I am involved in a tabletop group, and even if you don't count my many childhood drafts, it wouldn't be a surprise if I ended up sharing similar ideas with someone somewhere at some time. Nihil novi sub sole, after all.

But this is fucking insane.

One of my more serious drafts in my teen years was a science fantasy story, largely inspired by my gaming diet at the time of numerous JRPGs and Halo. In the backstory preparing for the final arc, I created this unnamed precursor race who existed billions of years before the "modern" day (modern in this context being somewhere between ten and fifteen thousand years from now). Their capital was on this supermassive space station/starship measured tens of millions of miles in diameter, so supermassive and advanced that it also served the function of a Dyson Sphere (though at the time I didn't know what that was), housing an infinitely sustainable star as the power source.

The name of this space station? Cosmic Dusk.

And then of course, like all precursor races, they were doomed to die from eldritch forces (in this context, they were similar in function to the Void creatures from League). They were rendered extinct, save for one unnamed entity whose soul shattered in the fight and scattered across the universe.

He would become known as the Phoenix.

Rakan is largely inspired by the Phoenix the bird, and makes a lot of implications about being a Phoenix.

I only mentioned this draft once before almost a decade ago during one of my college classes to mostly Criminal Justice students, so I highly doubt someone at Riot somehow ripped off my idea... but what the hell?! That's one mighty coincidence, and you have no idea of the bewildered conniptions I had when I saw Xayah's skin read "Cosmic Dusk" next to it. The shock has mostly worn off now... mostly.
