so today i found out fizz is an "amphibious yordle"
why did fizz randomly get turned into a yordle with the new lore?

Yeah it's kinda odd because his bio doesn't make him seem like a yordle. He has no illusion/human appearance, or at least it's not alluded that he does. "Often mistaken for some manner of capricious ocean spirit" would suggest that he is seen as he really is.
But then again, that whole Heim, Jinx, Ziggs thing threw how the illusion/appearance mechanic of yordles works. Heim states his were spells and he put it on Ziggs. So does that mean Ziggs doesn't have his own and it's not natural to yordles?
It seemed really basic for Trist in her story and for Kled as well, not to mention Poppy.
It also throws into question as to did this ocean yordle society break away from Bandle City? Was it in a sense its own ocean Bandle City? How did they get there? Does Bandle City know their ocean yordle brothers apparently disappeared and do they care?
Well his previous race never had a name,so who says that they weren't sea yordles the whole time? [zombie-brand-mindblown]
For a bit more context, the content within those mini-bio's arent fully set in stone, basically its not canon (yet). I think, although I obviously cant speak for the writers, i think they wanted to explore the possibility that Fizz could be a Yordle, and if they can make it work without issue then they'll probably go forward with the change. But otherwise the new mini-bio can easily be reverted, and remove the whole "aquatic-Yordle" possibility.
Now we only need Nunu
to be confirmed as a yordle
