Riven came out a lot more beautiful than I though she would be (crazy amount of detail in it), as I pictured her kind of fucked up in the face lol. Anyways, Can we get some clarity as to why her eyes are surrounded by black? And the scar as well. I imagine the scar is just that, a scar, but maybe not. Anyways, is that the natural color of her skin around her eyes, or is that from something else. I don't imagine war paint, but it could be.

Nice observation. When we discussed and aligned on Riven's face for this video, we decided that given the circumstances it would be appropriate to take a little license with Riven's traditional "makeup heavy eyes" look and turn it into something battle functional. In a stadium type setting with intense sunlight beating down on white-ish sand, an athlete (a gladiator sentenced to die, maybe) would definitely like some eye black to prevent sunlight from hurting her ability to perform.

Black marks around the eyes are used to reduce sun glare while staring out into an open space. Its why Cheetahs have those marks on their face, it helps reduce the sun glare when they stare out across the Savannah looking for prey. Football players put black under their eyes for the same reason. The black across Riven's eyes could be for a similar use.

i think it's just supposed to be dirt/battle markings. some traditional warriors would put that black line over their eyes before going into combat.

I think Riven looks perfect. Just like how I pictured her. Excellent job Rito. I'm happy she finally gets a cinematic and it does her justice. <3

Usually, those kind of marks helps protecting your eyes of the sun. She was fighting and it looked like a pretty sunny day. Sometimes, it's little things like this than can make a difference. My mom's boss almost ran over a guy with his truck because the son was blocking his vision.

STILL can't tell if her eyes are Amber or Red.
