Does Riot have a single woman on their art staff?

Because if they do, it's time to start fucking listening to her.

There are like maybe 5 female champions that aren't conventionally attractive.

Yes, there are pretty men too, but it's not nearly as egregious.

It's gotten to the point where I'm embarrassed to be seen playing this game. I remember trying to get my wife into the game, trying to get her to play Morgana, and we got to the loading screen and she just laughed and was like "God League is such a typical game, look at that splash art".

And I tried to justify it, like "Well, yeah, some of the older characters are depicted in rather poor taste, but... actually this splash is pretty recent. Well I guess it's her character, 'cause...actually morg isn't even particularly sex-oriented, she's a powerful, rebellious, mage, a leader of her faction, why doesn't she have clothes? Why is she posing like that?

And every single other female character on the loading screen was the same.

And not only has riot completely failed to uphold their claim of only undressing their characters when it fits their design (cough cough-Kai'sa-cough), but that excuse only goes so far.

When Ahri Elise Evelynn Katarina Leblanc MissFortune Nidalee all have elaborate justifications for why they just have to be sexy and revealing it becomes painfully obvious what a shoddy excuse it is - they're the ones creating the character in the first place. Like. I could write a character that just had to be naked for her powers to work and only could fight after fucking, but I wouldn't, because that's a shitty character.

"Yes, this character is very sexy, but she weaponizes the sex so it's actually empowering that I drew her with a broken back, desperate to show her ass and tits at the same time. The sketch is a little rough, but I did only have one hand"

"Great. Perfect. Throw her on the pile."

Illaoi was such a breath of fresh air, I was hoping that Riot had finally grown up to be a big-boy company that was interested in promoting the standards and idealologies they preached, but as time goes on the just keep showing that it's the same old, tired, stale AAA game industry, and that no amount of very sincere, sensitive, faux-progressive brogrammer culture is a substitute for establishing and enforcing corporate values and minority voices.

I don't even know why I'm disappointed, this is the Riot we've known all along, but I guess I've lost the last of my hope that they'd actually step up and try to be better the way they keep begging us to give them another chance to do so. I will not support riot with another fucking dollar of my money until I see a serious effort to address their systemic corporate issues. Which I don't expect to ever happen.

Anyway, rant's over, I hope y'all have the best time you can playing a game that repeatedly enrages you. I'm out.

  • Implying women do not enjoy playing attractive characters
  • Implying anyone who enjoys playing an attractive female character is not a real woman or has no self respect
  • Staying silent when this dude came out Sylas
  • Implying that Illaoi is not attractive because she is buff

Is that what they call progressive thinking today?

I think those are basically the only non-sexual character designs.

"People enjoy attractive people and it's PISSING ME OFF!"

It's also extremely sexist of you to assume they don't have women, when in fact they have a bunch.

Do we really need to have ugly video game characters now just to make people feel secure? What a joke.

Does Riot have women on their art team? Yes.

Are they the ones deciding what's in the art? No. That's up to their supervisors, who I suppose are the same thirsty dudes who were described quite recently as casually chatting about sexual harassment and raping their coworkers.

Fill in the blanks.

The skins team has a lot of very vocal women as team leads and I think that explains why they make fewer egregious mistakes than the team that gave us Kai'Sa and now Kayle.

Jesus what a hateful person. You and your wife must have a great relationship.

I mean I get that the HUGE majority of players are guys, so it's understandable to me cause even tho i'm not attracted to it, I know like 90% of the playerbase is. I don't get why you counted Katarina as a champ that had to be sexy to some degree, cuz all she does is kill people - why does she have to have most of her chest exposed? I've always been bothered by Vayne having heels, because heels are HARD TO RUN IN let alone WALK in them (depending if they're wedges/height/etc.) vayne enjoys killing evil things, so why would she be wearing heels in her base skin?

I'm so fucking sick of this weird idea that women don't like attractive women, and would never design them. Most of the female artists I know or follow design character that are probably more sexualized than the male artists I know. Why in your mind are men allowed to draw attractive men and find their designs appealing, but the same is impossible for women? In general, humans like designing attractive characters.

Really? I'm just gonna stop here because you're acting like league is borderline porn or something.

I'm assuming this post is in response to Kayle/Morgana, which most people seem to be in agreement that Kayle should have kept her armor. But you're going over the top with it.
