I finally understanded why i don't like Leona.

All this years since Diana release Leona was the one who was the "Good one" and never like it, but when i was beyond the good-bad stuff i was thinking about Leona, that why even after that still don't like her in general.

Leona doesn't feel empathy.

Leona is not a character with a lot of lines, but most of her lines are basically like:

"I will protect you." "Stay at the vanguard." "Chosen of the sun."

They do sound like nice, right? because thats it, leona is "the radiant one" she is suposed to shine, and she thinks the same way. But is not about what others want, but about she thinks others want.

Think about her lore.

"When it came time for her Rite of Kor, a ceremony in which two Rakkor teens battle to the death for the right to bear a relic-weapon, Leona refused to fight."

Was she thinking about why this ceremony exist? no Did she deny the ceremony and refused to do it? Yes

she didn't do it because other people didn't like it, she did it because SHE didn't like it, she acts based on what she thinks is right.

She is like the sun, the more you are exposed to her, the more it will hurt you.

How do you draw those conclusions from that text?

Every character here is acting on what they think is right. Duh, it's obvious.

Have you ever thought why she didn't like the ceremony? All I read was, "I don't like Leona because she acts on what she thinks is the right thing to do." Why does she think that way? What are her reasons? Her past? From that, what can you conclude about what Leona values and what her beliefs are?

You can make the exact same base idea for any other character in the game.

She did not refuse to fight only because she thought it was wrong, she had also done so because it was one of her childhood friends of whom she battled and was to kill. His skill at fighting was so poor that he did not stand a chance against her, and she could not bring herself to kill her friend, a young boy whom could not hope to defeat her in combat.

Not only that, but Leona strongly believed that true strength was not just to kill, but also to protect others.

How can you say that her actions are not right? How can you say her unwillingness to kill one of her own friends, whom had no hope in defeating her in combat, was wrong? How can you say her belief that her strength should be used to protect people, is wrong? What about her is really so unlikable?

Leona doesn't feel empathy.

Leona couldn’t sit idly by while her friends suffered.

_Leona's own parents watched with anticipation. Today their concerns about her would be put to rest. Her reluctance to conform would either be pushed aside or taken to the grave. Compassion had no place with the Rakkor. _

_She searched the eyes of watching parents, wondering how they could allow their children to be slaughtered. She later realized that the Kor was as much a test for those observing as it was for the participants. It was a ritual about understanding and accepting the Rakkor way of life. To succeed was to earn your place amongst the tribe, to be trusted to wield the terrifying relic-weapons of your ancestors, to be prepared for the sacrifices that would be expected of you. To fail was to enrich Rakkor soil with your body and blood. Even in death, you would serve the tribe. _

I know you're directly quoting from Leona's bio there but if you read her Judgement you'll find that simply isn't the case at all. Leona did fight in her Kor and she was victorious.

Leona refused to kill her defeated opponent.

she didn't do it because other people didn't like it, she did it because SHE didn't like it, she acts based on what she thinks is right.

Leona is a person who was raised in a warlike society but ultimately couldn't bring herself to be the stoic and brutal warrior that Rakkor idealised. She was saved by the sun after refusing to kill someone - a boy who we're told elsewhere was a highly skilled and passionate woodworker - for being to weak too meet the standards of her people. It was more palatable for her to die knowing she had shamed her parents and her people than be celebrated for taking a life.

Leona is a bad Rakkor, someone who spat on their traditions, but I really don't see how she's a bad person for that when it meant staying true to her own morals.
