3 New ability ideas I found for Malzahar in his new bio and in the void lore update.
Malzahar's current kit is pretty problematic. He's not fun to play against and while playing him you tend to end up as an ult bot. While I am very attached to his current ult, it does feel crap that Malzahar isn't allowed to do the same amount of things some of these newer champions are doing. Its pretty obvious he's going to need a rework in the future.
Malzahar's new bio brings some possibilities for new abilities in the future. I found 3 possible ones, the first being a charm. Yes, a charm. It does seem a bit weird but just read this:
> Within a matter of months, strange rumors began to travel with the merchant caravans; rumors of men and women gladly sacrificing themselves to unseen powers
Drawing them in, to the point they are willing to sacrifice them self. We have that in league in the form of charms. Evelynn and Ahri draw people in to die, granted they trick people into while the people are sacrificing themselves of free will. It probably shouldn't be called a charm, as a charm implies sexual stuff and most people don't find being sacrificed a turn on. Just another interesting fact, Malzahar's current Q is named "Call of the Void". In real life, the urge to inflict serious harm to yourself, such as a sudden desire to jump off that high ledge you're standing on or intentionally crash your car, is a "Call of the Void". Maybe he could have his Q charm instead of silencing if some condition is met? (Sidenote: having a call of the void moment does not make you mentally ill unless you're consumed by thoughts of doing those sorts of things.)
Ability number 2 is something I believe is also in his old lore. Malzahar can see the future.
> Beneath the glare of the Shuriman sun, there have always been those blessed with the power of foresight. The only son of aging trinket peddlers, Malzahar did not realize his gift until his parents had already succumbed to a wasting sickness, leaving the young, traumatized boy to fend for himself on the city streets of Amakra. He read fortunes in the gutter, for a coin or scraps of bread. > > As his auguries proved more and more accurate, his reputation grew. He used his second sight to predict who a curious cameleer might marry, or where throwing daggers would land in games of chance at the bazaar.
A new passive involving making predictions come true could be a interesting tie in with his lore. Maybe something along the lines of "Malzahar predicts the fate of his enemies. Prophecies appear with enemy champions requiring Malzahar to hit them with Q,W, or E, hitting enemies with the specified ability deals extra burn damage over time". Problem with this ability is that it's pretty gimmicky. IMO Mini game abilities are OK, but I don't really want to see this . It could be pretty cool for a champion who's main thematic is predicting the future though.
The 3rd ability isn't from his bio, but from the Explore Runeterra: The Void article. One of the panels in the art gallery is called The Voidborn. The caption reads
> "Though it has bred many of them, no two horrors of the Void are exactly the same."
There is a bit of an issue with this statement. Malzahar's voidlings are the same thing every summon. Maybe Malzahar could summon something different depending on which ability he last used. It would be like a fusion of his old passive and Sona's passive. Maybe voidlings summoned if Q was used last could slow enemies, ones summoned if W(whatever it would get changed to) was last used could be harder to kill, ones summoned with E could work the way the same way they did when Malzahar was first reworked or summon voidlings based on how many times E bounced or was refreshed, and ult could summon a powerful voidling or nothing at all.
Just thoughts I had after reading Malzahar's new bio. Not too interested in seeing #2 on him, I think #'s 1 and 3 could have potential though.
