Ryze's Choices Will Lead to Disaster

According to the Map of Runeterra, Ryze stores his collected runes in northern Demacia. While I understand he needs the Petricite to contain their latent power, you should not hide weapons of mass destruction in a country in a state of constant war. What if a Demacian finds them? Do you really think that a fear of magic will be enough to keep them from taking them? Ryze isn't there to guard it. No one is since he can't trust anyone else to interact with them longer than a moment. What if a Noxian spy finds the vault (or Noxus turns the tide of battle and comes across it)? Do you really think an empire that puts power above all else would hesitate, even for a moment, to use the world runes?

Don't you think you're underestimating Ryze? He's got centuries of experience and knows how important his task is. He has backup plans for these situations.

Of course, he's still human, so he can't think of everything and will make some mistakes, but if he didn't, his story wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

I'm pretty sure the vault is underground and one needs to teleport in there. Also Ryze might have put some wards like he did in his comic that desintegrate everyone that's not him the moment they set foot in the vault (if they can Ryze needed to teleport in there), and even if they somehow survive the wards and have the ability to teleport, the vault is made out of petricite. There's no mage that can teleport that even comes close to the level of power Ryze has to be able to teleport with no effort while being surrounded by petricite into a petricite vault.
