Why does Zilean still have pointy ears?

From what I could understand from previous lore, if a human had pointy ears, it was because they were especially potent when it came to magic,

That was why Janna had pointy ears.

But now that Janna has been retconned into being a wind spirit, which would explain why she isn't 100% human in appearance, is there still a reason for Zilean to have pointy ears?

Is it still because he's magically potent?

Do all people from Icathia have pointy ears?

What are you guys thoughts?

I think riot would remove them in his VGU eventually.

I also think they will preserve elve like characters in the future. Maybe vastaya lke champs/ elve like people in the kumungu jungle.

Maybe the people that lived in his city had ears like that for some reason...or it costs 1000000000 dollars to cut his ears for the splash and the ingame model.

We'll leave that one open ended until he inevitably gets a VGU or similar. Because he needs one. I assure you, unless he also is retconned into a spirit, he'll end up with normal ears.

Kai'Sa and Kassadin would prove otherwise, no? Unless I'm misunderstanding their short bios (still have to read the more in-depth stuff).
