@Riot - Why did you go from Alien Invaders to Corrupted Ascended? It's bad.

The Darkin (LAST YEAR) were set up as alien forces trying to invade, and being repelled by the ancient humans. This was a fantastic story, and told a lot about the ingenuity of humans and also left some open doors for the universe outside of Runterra. It also gave ample explanation on why Darkin looked so different and why they behaved so differently than other beings in the world. They were unique, they had a whole different outlook on the world, and they were fit in such a way into the existing lore that made them mythological.

Now, you've gone back to "ERMAGHAD, DA VOID CORRUPTS ALL!" and made them plain, boring, corrupted god-mortals. This greatly diluted the air of power and awesomeness the old Darkin had, and made them just more mundane god-beings on Runeterra, that were born on Runeterra. It stripped all of their uniqueness away from them, and stripped all of the myth from their original war story where the invasion was repelled by humans. You rewrote lore that wasn't even a year old, which is again, a huge red flag that shows us your recent disregard and lack of direction for the narrative.

These new stories are written well, don't get me wrong. The pacing is great, and the actual structure is good. But the content is just wrong, and so bad for the world as we understood it. You took a great theme of stranded aliens who are bent on revenge, and turned it into mortals trapped in weapons wanting power back. This was a horrible direction. You also made Zoe completely and utterly sadistic and your characterization of her in that story is just so disconnected from how you've built her in the lore and game. She's happy and peppy in the game, with not the slightest hint of sadism or maliciousness. She's goofy, she's blissfully oblivious for the mischief she's causing, and she's much more lighthearted - and then you go and turn her into this cold-blooded god killer which makes ZERO sense.

Get your shit together Riot. Your narrative is starting to unravel really badly, and your team is starting to contradict existing things left and right. Get a plan, stick to that plan. Understand your characters and how they exist in the world and build other things in relation to what already exists. Don't keep revising and retconning the lore every you have a whim. You're supposed to be building a world, not destroying it and reinventing every other day.

  1. That was NOT Zoe. That was Myisha. Recall that Zoe is the current Aspect of Twilight, aka a Trickster God. Just like the other Aspects, there have been others in Runeterra's history who have had the power. We just play as the current ones. Thus this Myisha was the Aspect Host before Zoe. Zoe also doesn't seem to have the attention span to craft such a sneaky plan as see it through to the end.
  1. Void corrupting all has been it's theme since it was first introduced years ago. The Void being a big threat that usually needs Divine Power to beat away has also been common since the new Targon lore that came out with Aurelian Sol.
  1. This new lore makes the Darkin more sympathetic. They were once mortals, granted power by the sun disc like Nasus and the others, but lost everything due to Void twisting their minds and Shurima being lost to the sands. They became titanic, immortal warriors with no one and nothing to fight for, besides themselves and their desires. With no one to serve THEY became the rulers. THEY became the god. They fought for so long they seemed to forget if they had any real good reason to fight. Many tossed their former bonds of brotherhood away. It took so long one of them even lost hope and just wanted the war to end and peace restored, so much so they listened to the words of a strange person they thought was just another mortal. In the end it was the Trickster and they cared not for peace and just cared about taking the Darkin out of the picture before the completely killed all things. Trickster was doing their job and doing it with a smile. With the Twilight of The Gods a handful were burnt, others who had their immortality striped by the burning light were probably killed as mortals or sealed (I get the feeling the Snake God-Warrior became that statue in the tomb that bit Cassiopeia), and those that still had their immortality became the Darkin we know in game that are now weapon demons. This make's Aatrox's fury upon seeing Zoe more righteous then it would of been if he was just a space demon made about getting stuck in a sword.

Zoe isn't really a sadistic killer in the lore, she's more just playful and does things without thinking of the repercussions. She destroyed the village in her lore because they were going to attack her. Her voice over in game doesn't really reflect that, but her game play captures the idea they're going for.
