Is it fair to expect Mobas to have a plot?

In a Moba characters are usually where it starts and stops for lore. Anything beyond that is usually fluff. I know some people don't consider Overwatch a Moba, but I do. As far as narrative plots they are probably the closest to accomplishing it, but they still have a lot of trouble with trying to keep consistency or a timeline.

Do you think we should expect plot in Mobas, or more character focused fluff stories?

Isn't overwatch lore also mostly backstory of characters?

It's kinda hard to write stories in a world where conflicts can't progress to much (Gangplank getting disabled because he got killed), characters can suddenly warp into new forms with new backstory and new characters suddenly appear out of nowhere and supposedly always having been there.

Well, League of Legends was the first game created with the title of "MOBA" and it had Plot (In the JoJ), so, yeah, it is fair.
