How did one of the few homages to a ninja in a game that wasn't Mortal Kombat go from being a ninja to being an Infernal? I liked Crimson BECAUSE it was an homage to Taki. This shift is completely off the charts.

Crimson was too similar to Blood Moon, imo it's a good choice.

I agree. While i think the new splash art is cool and all, they should have just made it a new skin. This is NOTHING like the crimson skin and definitely NOT what i bought a while back. js
Because at this point, riot doesn't even care about the people who own the skin. We've seen it with furbutt irelia, now this crap.
I loved the taki skin. This is crap that I'm not interested in. Why did people get it? They liked the look of it. This isn't what the people bought.
They should have just renamed it crimson elite or whatever because that would be a lot closer to what people who bought the skin

Perhaps they realised that Crimson Akali was just a chroma for classic akali and wanted the skin to have some unique flavor to it beyond "it's akali but her clothes are red".
Let me keep my red akali as a chroma or something please... I have ended up collecting all the akali skins over the years simply from mystery gifts and rerolling Hextech shards... the main two I ever used were crimson and stinger, believe it or not. I liked them a lot. Infernal seems a bit awkward for akali as it is. Sure I’m getting a brand new skin for free but the point of the matter is there’s no real compensation for people who liked the crimson skin as it was.
As someone else stated above me, all other VGU’d champs got their “chroma” skins updated into their own unique skins. None of them were completely replaced like this one will be.

I love Soul Calibur
Soul Calibur is not big in the West like Mortal Kombat is and Crimson had overlaps with Stinger (Yellow vs. Red) and Bloodmoon (Red thematic). Which sucks, because Soul Cali deserves a fuckton of love.
People complaining about a chroma skin being sold as a full skin currently being updated into something worth the skin tier (without looking too much like her certain other skin).
