so i have been binge reading tons of awesome short stories in the league universe, and some of them are really amazingly written, my personal favourite being 'A Good Death' and has inspired me to have a go at writing something of my own. but what do i do with the story after i write it?
That's really great to hear - I'd love to see more players getting excited by League lore and writing their own stories. I wouldn't have my job right now if I hadn't submitted fan-fiction to Games Workshop in like 2010, which ended up with me being published as a writer, then working for them as an editor, and now being here at Riot... :-)
My advice to you is the same I'd give to anyone. If you want to be a writer, then start writing (and reading!) every day. Read everything you can, fiction and non-fiction, from as many genres and styles as you can. Write anything that you feel inspired to try, and never throw away anything you've written.
Look back at stuff you wrote a week ago, a month ago, whatever. Figure out how to make it better. Re-write it.
When you're comfortable with stuff you've written, post it online for comments from other writers and fans. Join writing clubs. Join book clubs. Find your favorite authors, and read everything they've ever published.
If you decide you'd like to try writing for a living one day, my favorite ever quote/advice about writing comes from Lawrence Kasdan, most famous for his Star Wars work: "Being a writer is like having homework every night for the rest of your life."

Publish that bad boy on your blog/website/whatever or post it here on boards, or both. We love a good fic.
You can post it as a fanfiction (as long as you give recognition to Riot for the characters/world/lore/ecc.) on any site built to host them, such as Fanfiction.net or ArchiveOfOurOwn.org
My only suggestion is to try and do your homework first: study the places and the characters you want to write about, so that you can get close to what is canon as much as possible: if for example you make a story about Yasuo and the character you wrote is no similar at all to what we know of him from in-game quotes and Riot's stories/biographies, then of Yasuo he would have only the name; different story if you set it as an Alternate Universe, but that's like taking the easy way out unless you set it up properly and in a "realistic" way
I was thinking about posting my own about Karthus and basing the story around a plot derived from "The Lightbringer" PentaKill song. I've gotten a lot done with it so far. Now I just need to convince myself it's worthy of being posted.

Anyway, best of luck to you. Find something that sticks in your head then let your imagination run wild, structure it, rationalize what needs to be rationalized, then go for it.
Edit: Fuck it, Imma do it. Once my courses wrap up and I can proof read everything at the end of this month. I'm actually pretty hyped about going through the story and changing some stuff (and trying not to add more and more to make it a novel).
wow, so great to see so many replies from the people at riot! right now im just gathering information and thinking up concepts for a story, and i'm definitely gonna share it on the boards when im happy with what i got : ^)
