Star Guardians universe questions

Is the Star Guardians world a modern world as it seems to be? And why would Runeterra summon these beings and why the f^^k would they go to someplace without Wifi?

Is it some kind of Time Travel thing where they try and stop the Void being from entering existence? Are the star guardians picked? Would Aurelion Sol have any clue on when it started? And for the love of lore...why hasn't Zilean even mentioned these fools? He'd have seen them coming miles/moments/measurement of time beforehand, right?

It's just a huge disconnect for me.

But it makes me think the summoners or whoever these people are as evil. I can't imagine teeneagers wanting to visit an ancient timeline willingly and staying...even if they are star guardians.

If a Red could give me an uppercut of lore and show me the stars, maybe I could understand it so I'm not gnawing the rawhide of confusion.

To me, it's a cute sailor moon ripoff. But it seems they come from ANOTHER TIMELINE and they DO NOT FIT. They are an anomaly to me. (and btw, what 'City' are they defending exactly? Future Zaun? Ionia of the future?)

What?

Star Guardians are not in the main universe Cannon lore. What are you talking about?

It's fictional. IIRC, they refer to their school as Valoran High School, and I think their town is called Valoran City. In the recent comic, they go to Camp Targon for stargazing. It's like they wanted to make a recognizably modern city, but keep a Runeterra air about it.

In addition to everything else mentioned, summoners aren't canon anymore and haven't been for a while.
