The hell is Azir doing over there?

I hope he isn't actually "re-slaving" everybody. I do wonder how the populace reacted to him just coming over and being like "hey guys, I was your King like 4000ish years ago. Imma do that again now... kk?". Also I find it a bit funny how nonchalant people are reacting to the idea of a Bird-God coming back from the dead. Like does nonsense like that happen often? Are people aware of other Ascended? What has Nasus been doing?

KEY THING TO REMEMBER.

Azir's abolishment of slavery happened mere MINUTES before his death and Shurima's destruction. This means that the only people who witnessed the event were Azir, who died and was only ressurected in recent times, Xerath, who spent a millennia in a tomb with Renekton, and the population of the capital, who all died instantly as Xerath's plan unfolded.

The story is incomplete for just about everyone in Runeterra, and so the details known about the return of the Empire by the wider population of Valoran are going to be extremely limited and based upon what was left behind: the myths, legends and history of Shurima, and given how Azir's father was described by Xerath as being essentially a mad man, it's safe to say the Emperor was not viewed as a shining example of excellence all the time, and the stories that endured throught he ages were of the tyranny of the Emperors, not their benevolence if they even had any. Azir, being the last emperor and someone partially blamed for its fall because of his own hubris, will also fall under scrutiny because of the stories about him and the legacy of the emperors.

Only Azir, Xerath, Nasus and Sivir really have any real idea of what truly happened back then. Four people in the entire world. I wouldn't be surprised if Azir's return as an Ascended sparked fear and terror across Shurima as people feared the wrath of the returned emperor, and in a part of the world like Ionia, which is a continent in its own right, the details would be even muddier.

Taliyah doesn't know what Azir is doing. Shurima ended Ina giant sun storm -- not a very conductive environment for historical records. No one had any record of Azir actually setting all the skates free before he attempted the Ascension ritual, and the merchants in Ionia certainly don't know everything that's happening a continent away

Yeah ikr. its like "omg another one. thats like the 6th time this month"

That's the perception the current Shurimans have. This guy is a magical godlike being that rised an entire city from the desert, commands an army of sand soldiers and it's trying to rebuild a kingdom.

I'm wondering if any1 has seen Xerath anywhere.

Look at the champion roster. Yes.

Given that Azir's last act before his betrayal was to eliminate slavery, I am highly skeptical that he'd reinstate it immediately after being resurrected. I do however think that he'll have a lot of pushback from his former subjects, given that they haven't been ruled by anyone for centuries. No one likes some schmuck walking in and acting like he owns the place.

I'm assuming that the rest of the Ascended, Nasus included, probably vanished into the desert following Azir's betrayal. They've probably faded into myth by now. The nonchalance from the merchants is likely because no one actually believes the story - who would? The last time Ascended walked the earth was potentially millennia ago.

He was a god to them, some must still worship him.

People most likely assume that he will go back into enslaving everybody since everyone who knew about him freeing the Shuriman slaves is dead.

Hey man, I'm just interested to know the Golden Bird overlord is more of a gray area as far as whether or not he's evil goes now

I'd imagine he isnt actually enslaving people considering his final act as a mortal was to free all his slaves, but who knows? Maybe Xerath's betrayal after he freed the slaves changed his mind and now Azir is like freedom
