This is more of a legal question about the lore. Is the name Shurima copyrighted? I am heavily into Ancient Egyptian lore and focus my business motif around that flair. I have fallen in love with the name Shurima and was considering using it for naming a business site provided it isn't trademarked or copyright protected.
What is the origins of the word Shurima? If it is not made up by Riot, I should be free to use it then.
I...actually have no idea. I know Demacia and Noxus have names originating from (if memory serves) greek cities, Ionia is named after an island, Freljord is a combination of Frel and Jord from either german or scandanavian languages, not sure which, and the Kumungu is likely derived from the Kongo in Africa.
I actually went and looked for some big cities in Egypt and found one called Shubra El-Kheima, which is apparently Egypt's fourth largest city, but that's as close as I could find.

In the Heliopolitan tradition Shu, was part of the Ennead. He was the god of the air, consort of Tefnut. Father of Geb and Nut whom he is often depicted as separating from each other. He came into being as the breath of Atem. He was identified with the sun, the Hymn to the Aten describes him as Shu, who is in the Aten. As son of Atem he became Son of Re, when Atem merged with Re. He was also merged with Onuris as Onuris-Shu. As defender of the sun he was sometimes depicted with the head of a lion.
Basically Shu`s dad was Ra, who was the god of the Sun. Sun is the main thing with Shurima, so basically Shurima is the child of the Sun. Iusaaset was his mom, who is the mother of all Gods.
i looked it up and there was a city in Egypt that was called El Rima. so if we get this right then that might be where they get Rima from.
Shurima appears in a book I have found. It is listed as En-Da-Shu-Rima. I have also found evidence of Shurima as a surname in several people in the world and a few instances of someone with it as their first name.
