LoL Lore: How do we know what counts as lore anymore?

I used to love the old LoL Lore but now with all the ret-cons it seems to be going down hill or being ignored outright, like how alistar is still homeless since the institute of war no longer exists or the game still calling levels "Summoner Level" but what really started to bug me is that Riot seems to be adding in random parts of old lore that was cancelled and doing so in the most meaningless way.

Example: Blitzcrank's Fleshing Compatibility Service This was first brought up in the Journal of justice Volume 1 Issue 17 and included an entire article about it and the story about summoner Bob dating two champions which was a interesting way to add to all of the character and make the world feel more real but now that the JoJ has been removed meaning that story never happened but while loading into one of my games I got the loading screen "tip" of "Blitzcrank runs a dating service called "Blitzcrank's Fleshing Compatibility Service" meaning that even though it was removed it's somehow now back?

TL;DR Riot is picking and choosing random parts of lore it wants from the old lore and gives players no way to tell what is considered canon, so how do we even know what to consider as story anymore?

The problem with the answers given in this thread is the fact that Riot themselves said that the lore of the Old Gangplank still canon even after his update (Aka: Vincent the Shadow killed by Gangplank), wich means that there are parts of the old lore that are canon even after the updates.

So, the correct answer would be: As long as the old lore doesnt contradict the new lore, its canon (after removing everything about the summoners or the LoL in said lore).

The way I like to think about it is that everything from 2013, 2014 and 2015 is pretty much 100% canon and anything before that varies depending on how far back you go; 2012 lore is more representative of actual canon than 2010 lore.

The safe way of thinking about it is that anything from the start of 2014 onwards is canon because that's when Riot started changing their method of lore delivery, and was also probably the time when they finalised the decision internally to make the IoW non canon.

That's how I think about it, but I dunno, could be wrong.

Essentially everything involving the League is either non-canon or exactly the same with the League taken out. As a result all the JoJ stuff is non-canon... Which is a shame because I love the JoJ, just finished doing a massive read through of it and I'm in the middle of reading all the League Judgements :P They'll gradually finish rewriting everyone's lore, for now it's a given that everything's the same minus LOL. Demacia's still Demacia, Noxus is still Noxus, etc.

At this point ALL LORE updated since their decision to remove the League is considered canon... This includes burning tides and so forth.

Anything from Darius patch is canon. anything before that depends and is subject to change (For now, remove any mentioning of IOW as formentioned before point and it should stay canon from then point onwards, until they add new stuff, but anything from Darius patch should not have major drastical changes).

99% of the time I read new and old and make my own lore around it. Example, I just did a short story about Amumu based on old lore and new lore.
