Please don't force these changes upon us in regards to the Chinese splash updates.

I know that it's still technically Riot's property so I spend money at my own risk, and from here on out I'm not wanting to take that risk.

Disclaimer: This isn't a QQ post it is just my opinion, take it how you will.

Now Riot like to change things, and of course they're at the free will to do so, it's their game after all, however when I buy something I don't buy it for what it's changed to I buy it because I like it at the time, because I feel an attachment or liking to what I'm buying. For champions, this is fine, the game revolves around them and change is often necessary, however for skins this is a cosmetic purchase and has no bearing on the actual gameplay itself and is a way to show support for the game and a way for you to show off your favorite champion, I could list a lot of reasons people get skins but that isn't the point of this post.

I don't want to make this long and drawn out so I'm going to get to the point, I buy skins because I like them (obviously), lots of people do, when changes are shoved down my throat on something I purchased because I personally found it aesthetically pleasing it just makes me weary to purchase things in the future, Riot, you are free to force these changes, however, you're causing a lot of distaste among the community.

There is no need to unify appearances across regions, why confine champions to one appearance, one personality? There's heaps more than one shade to the characteristic of a champion so why only display one? Every day people create amazing fan art which gives us a look into the lives of champions, which lets us fantasize about them in a different light, some accurate some fictional, why do we need one defined appearance?

Admittedly some of the Chinese splashes are just plain better, so what do we do? The solution proposed to this problem is to let us choose which Splash art version we want to use, don't force these changes upon us, sure some skins seem outdated but you think this is going to break the game? I think you'll break the game more if you force these kind of things upon your community.

I won't provide a TL;DR as I honestly feel like what I want won't be able to be said in a small sentence.

Thanks for reading... take it how you will.

They can't use fan art (they don't own it)

They know some of this art isn't the best, but in order to make creating new art for all regions easier, they are eliminating the pipeline that was the Chinese region (the only place they had different art)

My hope is that once all clients use the same files they will then proceed to update all splash arts. If that's the case we'll only have these "new" splash arts until the improved ones come in.

I mean I can hope, right?

I agree that there are some serious issues with riot changing content you have already paid for. I know they have 50 pages of legalese protecting their asses in that regard (we don't actually own the content, we just rent it from riot or whatever, yada yada), but there is a moral issue with it. Players gave riot money for specific content, having it changed subtly, or in some cases drastically, just so riot can increase the marketing appeal and sales of old content is pretty underhanded and damaging to consumer confidence. Riot's attitude of "gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette" and "can't please everyone" is particularly unpleasant considering that the only people they screw over when changing existing content are the people who have already paid for it. It's hard to give a better solution, since their updates have drastically improved the quality of the game, I just wish they'd be more considerate of the existing fanbases of various champions, skins, and other content, instead of frequently throwing them under the bus to attract new audiences.
