The theory that diagram is referring to is the world-famous aristotelian "Three Act Story Structure" which refers to how, in theatre, a story is divided into three parts, not four, of a Beginning, Middle and End, and between them are divided introduction/exposition, introduction of a conflict, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.

Could just be a coincidental thing, but it's certainly not the first time a character and the #4 have been associated with death in general. As a former student of Theater though, I do like your suggestion - ties in better with the whole "artistic" side of the character's lore (at least as it has been revealed thus far).
